Its a bright green card that says Halifax EasyCash and its Visa electron.

The charges you describe cannot be charged to that type of account. Is it possible you have confused the accounts online (though the newish LTSB platform displays a picture of the card?

Someone, I cannot tell who, has made a mistake.

The only other thing I can think of is that you might have another account that has been dormant etc. Really do call up, though, and speak to someone.
Can you (as a Halifax employee?) explain then apparent exclusion wording?...

"Please note this account is no longer available to over 18s"

It is in a charges section for both the Easycash and Cardcash. Maybe it relates only to Cardcash? If so, it's not very clear.

Sorry, but I cant find where it says that, could you provide me a link please? I do, however, know for a fact that the Easycash is 16+. The Cardcash account is for under 18's.

Did you get to speak with anyone?

Apparently being called back, in the meanwhile I'm writing a letter.

Nope I only have one account with Halifax, its 100% an easycash account.

The other account I have is with another bank.

    I guess it's just a waiting game.

Thats the thing, those charges would only be possible on a full account (not that I'm saying that you are lying or something :p)

No I fully understand lol I'm just confused about it completely. The fact they allowed a directdebit with a 0 balance (they've done this more than once but it was for £10, but they didnt charge me) I'd of been better off if they refused it, i'd of got a letter and could of paid off the charges added 28 days later or something. Instead they paid it and now im being charged what I can only class as loan shark % rates lol.

Nothing else I can do for now, i'm getting myself wound up about it. Will let everyone knows what they say.

At 2.20% per month (the Easycash rate), £155 would equate to an unauthorised overdraft balance of around £7,045

    I think you'll eventually find they've upgraded/re-designated the account a 'current account'.

They'll have written to you, but due to the post issues you've been experiencing you probably didn't receive the letter?

Ahh, indeed it is, my apologies. I'll agree that it's not very clear, I think there should be an asterisk that is missing beside "Cardcash" on the left, and the quote that you have advised.

Definatelly, callback turnaround is usually within 2 hours, so we shall wait and see. It also was probably a CPA (Continous payment authority) on your card, not a direct debit, as a DD would have been bounced costing you £10 (on an Easycash).

Easycash accounts cant be 'upgraded', a new account would need to be opened.

    Agreed on the post.
