Halifax UnAuthorised OD Fees

  • Yes it's still available.

If you're convinced you have the Easycash account, the same condition I referenced above is included in those T&Cs...

However, I'm puzzled as to the scale of the charges incurred because they shouldn't be so high on an Easycash account.

You need to call them, or let them call you...

Thanks I have transferred 88.50 into my overdrawn account and am currently waiting in a queue on the phone. Hoping it resolves it.

I'm not disputing I owe it, just hope they either waiver it or let me pay it off easily without anymore charges =\

A key question to ask them is "which account is this?".

If they answer "Easycash" then I'd strongly suggest that you ask them to clarify how the charges have reached £155.

I dont have any of those accounts, do they not even offer the Easycash anymore?
    Yes it's still available.
On looking further I'm not sure it is, at least not for adults...
Please note this account is no longer available to over 18s

    Your link says "16+"

My link says "Please note this account is no longer available to over 18s"

I'm reading that as it's only available to new applicants between 16-18 years of age?

Hmm. Not my intention to "point score". The issue therefore is what is the Halifax "basic bank account" called? I'm cetain there must be one. The Money Advice Service leaflet (not that that that proves anything) still lists Easycash as the Halifax Basic Bank Account.

  • The Easycash is the Halifax basic account, and is available to anyone over 16 who does not have a history of BR or CIFAS/fraud. The OP must hold one of the full facility current accounts to be getting charged the £5 daily fees. If s/he hasnt had any charge refunds in the past, they can phone up and the consultant can waive a maximum of £35 worth of the unauthourised fees incurred on the account. If there has been a previous goodwill refund, then a further one should not be given. OP, does it say VISA Electron on your card or VISA Debit? All of the full current accounts come with a debit and the Easycash comes with an electron.

Its a bright green card that says Halifax EasyCash and its Visa electron.

Can you (as a Halifax employee?) explain then apparent exclusion wording?...

"Please note this account is no longer available to over 18s"

It is in a charges section for both the Easycash and Cardcash. Maybe it relates only to Cardcash? If so, it's not very clear.
