Halifax UnAuthorised OD Fees

It is a fairly clear charge. £5 per day for each day you are in unauthorised overdraft.I just thought wow so this is how they make their money
That's why I suggested registering for mobile updates should this happen again., talk about how to spiral something out of control, and help people get into more debt.
There is a maximum charge. £5 a day. No more than £155 per calendar month.Just cannot see how they can honestly see £155 in charges is fair lol I thought there surely would be a maximum charge?
It's grrowing by £5 a day.I guess If I don't pay it off pretty soon they'll add some more charges ontop of charges and then I will be in trouble0 -

Under the old 'rules' you'd have incurred a circa £35 fee for the payment made, a circa £25 fee for using an unauthorised overdraft, and a few pence debit interest (at circa 28.9% APR) for the 31 or so days.
So...old rules = £60...new rules = £177
As was said at the time...be careful what you wish for!
Whats worse is I never claimed anything back from that lol so I lost out twice it seems lol0 -

Thanks for your prompt response.
Don't think Halifax have mobile updates for cashcards? Will have to investigate. Think it's time to make a call and write a letter pleading poverty lol or something, or at least get them to freeze it so i can bring it back under control. =\ daunting!0 -
You keep mentioning "cashcards". As I suggested earlier you don't have a cashcard account. You simply must have a 'current account' or a 'Reward current account', as these are the only one's making the £5 per day charge...Don't think Halifax have mobile updates for cashcards?

they didn't send me a letter about paying them honouring the directdebit.
Though I am not informed on the issue I am very surprised. I note the "bank experts" haven't yet offered an opinion on that.
Though a slightly different issue, I have just received an (immediate) letter about a standing order from my Halifax Reward account being unpaid. And as it happens there is not even a fee in such a situation.
You need to address as a matter of urgency having your direct debits on a full service account rather than on an Easycash account (as you believe).0 -

Yes sorry I have an Easycash account. It was advertise as a cashcard at the time of getting it, no overdraft, no cheques, visa electron card.
They once paid a direct debit under £10 and didn't charge me extra for it nor for being overdrawn. I cleared that off and now this =\0 -
Then, assuming you have one of the accounts I suggested earlier, they seem to have breached condition 8.10Thats the thing, they didn't send me a letter about paying them honouring the directdebit.

...because, at one every 7 days, you should have had at least 5 or 6 letters by now!0 -

We have had a different postman for 3 weeks, he kept putting neighbours letters through my door and vica versa. However they didn't bring around any letters from halifax, like I said first I knew about it was this morning when i got a please pay now letter.0 -
Yes it's still available.I dont have any of those accounts, do they not even offer the Easycash anymore?
If you're convinced you have the Easycash account, the same condition I referenced above is included in those T&Cs...

However, I'm puzzled as to the scale of the charges incurred because they shouldn't be so high on an Easycash account.
You need to call them, or let them call you...
