The book refers to research about the following towns: Esperaza, Couiza, Rennes-les-Bains, Rennes-le-Chateau, Alet-les-Bains, Veraza, Terrolles, Casseignes and Serres. Some might be outside the four-town area. I believe that one will be the town, although I haven't entirely ruled out Quillan which gets a mention on the same page.
I can find no record of a Teniers the Younger painting entitled simply "Merry Peasants" so we are still only making a best guess at the painting. Drawing lines between birds, eyes and objects is open to individual interpretation. My square centres on the eyes of the central figure standing on what looks like a barrel - but I wouldn't put money on it being correct.
At least I have the book now!0 -
I have no idea how to line that square up properly within the painting!
I have finished the book now and I loved it! (And I'm not just saying that because the author reads this thread!)
I couldn't put it down. This week for once I did not mind the long commute on the train to work0 -
I have decided to go with the Chateau des Ducs de Joyeuse at Couiza. I don't know what "the primary greeting" might be - my guesses are:
1. receptionist at hotel
2. email or website contact
I am moving on to threads elsewhere, so good luck to everyone - don't take too much notice of my suggestions, bearing in mind that I am still reading Sequence and lack any insight that the book may provide.
Best of luck to the author, Adrian, with the rest of his trilogy.0 -

I'll explain it to you, but not yet. The competition has a while to run yet.
