Why are you lucky, I've no problems or issues with Lloyds they are a good bank.

I have 3 contactless cards with them, but only use the one :-)

My card with FD is Full Auth, bet if I ask for a contactless card they wont send me one :-)
How do you know if your card is a full authorisation one?

When in lloyds today to pay some money in the cashier said lucky you that you have a contactless card I replied lucky me the only place I've used it is McDonalds and told him to not get to excited.
I tried to use mine in McDonalds, the first time the cashier looked at me how a cow would look at an oncoming train, and the second time they had replaced the reader with a non-contactless one! So I've yet to actually use my contactless functionality.

Stick it in a Pay@Pump. If it says 'Max Spend £xx' you have full auth.

My Barclays & lloyds both contactless say max £99 not sure if that's means it's full auth or not cant get my head round this full or not stuff on debit cards.

The Lloyds TSB / purple NatWest card I have are all contactless and offline.

My debit cards do the same, it says max spend £99. It reserves £1 to validate the card then tells you to put fuel in. Then it takes whatever is needed a few days later from my account to pay for what I spent up to £99 and releases the £1 hold at that time.

Does the same with a credit card, and all credit cards are offline.

I was told by first direct my card is full auth. They don't trust me.

Because they won't give you a contactless card? Seems a little extreme.

I don't think so I need a card I can rely on. I do a fair bit of traveling and need a way to pay for petrol at the pump, Asda's main forecourt is not open when I'm on the way into work, as well as the ability to use it on the trains.
