My card with FD is Full Auth, bet if I ask for a contactless card they wont send me one :-)

I didn't realise First Direct offered full auth debit cards? They're pretty picky about who they offer current accounts to.

I didn't think FD did any full auth cards, I thought they were all offline due to their customer base.

So I guess that if I "lost" my debit card, I'd receive a contactless one?

Also, they generically say cards. Does anyone know if it's just debit cards or credit cards as well?

Just order a new card as damaged (then it'll continue working for the time being) through internet banking with the reason the 3 digit security code has rubbed off or something like that, then the replacement you receive should be contactless.

Whilst they are saying cards unfortunately they aren't issuing contactless credit cards yet :(, which as I posted on their Facebook page is misleading in saying 'Cards' when actually it's not both.

I don't really see the point in using the First Direct Credit Card as it provides no benefits.

Much better to use a card which gives both cashback and is contactless.

I was just thinking the same about their credit card, it seems odd that they never have any incentive to actually apply for one.

I'm not sure about the need for contactless debit card personally as most purchases I am now trying to put on a slow stooze 0% purchase Barclaycard. This does have contactless, though so far I've only seen McDonalds have that option available.

Is it me though or do first direct cards seem to be easily damaged around the edges? I may end up requesting a new one anyway regardless of it being contactless.

I hardly ever use my card yet, mostly sitting in my wallet, the film that covers the front is beginning to peel away at the edges. Also the gold numbering/ lettering and silver "First Direct" have almost totally rubbed off. Other cards that I use much more show virtually no sign of wear.

If I could get a cashback credit card I would, but being a student doing freelance IT work every now and again nobody will issue me with one. Maybe when I've got into work I'll try for one but until then I can't see me being accepted.

I've never had any problems with my card, but my last ones only lasted 12 months (before I got replacements for contactless, nothing wrong with them) so maybe that's something to do with it?

I lost my wallet 2 weeks ago. The replacement visa debit card first direct sent me was a contactless card. I think the only place near me that actually accepts them is MacDonalds!
