  • All F2F (Face to Face) fundraisers must comply with best practice as laid down in a code of practice drawn up by the Institute of Fundraising.

And all MPs must comply with guidelines regarding expenses and all police officers must be totally unbiased when enforcing the law.

Stating what must happen and what does actually happen are two entirely different things.

    Nancypearl,

If this article is the one you are referring to, then I agree - It sums up my perception of "Street Fundraisers"

In particular, this made me [STRIKE]chuggle[/STRIKE] chuckle. To quote the Vicar ...

"Between the post office and the bank I was approached three or four times by RSPCA chuggers; so often and so persistently I began to feel like a winger facing the All Blacks"
"It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

  • While walking through Southampton City Centre last week, I was accosted by three chuggers at once, all coming from different directions. I felt like I was in a scene from a 1970s Kung Fu movie

I appreciate the need for charities to be more proactive these days, but annoying potential donors probably isn't the best way.

In case anyone is wondering, no I didn't fight my way out like Bruce Lee! I just muttered something along the lines of "For flip's sake", shook my head and walked on . .

The other week I was doing my shopping & outside the paper shop & the CoOp were a couple ladies with collection buckets.I think they were collecting for the Orange Order but couldn't be 100% sure as the collection boxes were just old food tubs with lids & a printed label on them. The tins were'nt official & the lids didn't look sealed.
Needless to say I passed them by without giving them anything.Today,on the other hand,I gladly put money in the poppy collection boxes without a second thought, and will continue to do so over poppy week.
