As yours already had, it is FOS that sets the timescale. If you think FOS should not allow Barclays more time it is FOS youust complain to.[/QUOT
Well i received a letter from Barclays not FOS on 13th june promising 31st and then received another letter on 15th august saying they are on track to hit the deadline, so that's why i am so mad with them all talk no action0 -
Too many inconsistencies here to help, you said this has been going on since sept 10, then fos issued letter in July giving 16 weeks (which ends October !!!). Then barclays had issued letter in June and August.
This is as clear as mud, if you have taken it to FOS, then as stated the 16 weeks doesnt apply and Barclays have done nothing wrong. FOS dont get involved until the complaint is referred to them after the deadline.0 -

I did not say anything about the FOS issusing a letter in July????????
I logged my complaint in September 2010, took it to the FOS in November 2010 before it went on hold.
Heard nothing until obviously the review ended and it was then that I received a letter from Barclays in June 2011 saying they would settle by the 31st August 2011.
So whatever your opinion maybe they have missed the deadline and when I spoke to Barclays last night they actually acknowledged this too and they know the FSA will be imposing a heavy fine on them for this0 -

Sounds like the OP is complaining to anybody and everybody and confusing them all, as well as turning on those who try to help.when I spoke to Barclays last night they actually acknowledged this too and they know the FSA will be imposing a heavy fine on them for this
Who exactly at Barclays did you speak to? Only senior management could possibly know that, by which I mean the likes of the Compliance Director and above, not some team leader.
You almost certainly don't have their ear or the matter would have been settled for you long ago.
DunstonH, Roonaldo and others, including me, have a wealth of experience which we have volunteered but you are determined to simply throw it back in our faces so you can have your pointless rant.
You are foolish to do that.
I cannot help fools and I do not suffer them gladly so I will leave you to wallow in your folly.0 -

If you feel that I am a fool then dont comment I have simply stated how I feel which I am free to do, I know the stress that I have been through I have paid this money in good faith and complained through the necessary channels so if you feel I am having a pointless rant then so be it, you have no right to call me a fool.
I feel sorry for your clients because you are very unprofessional by all indictions.0 -
Its sounds to me like Barclays have broken the rules.
They were supposed to issue a final response to every 'on hold' complaint before the end of August (although if they posted it on wednesday the letter could still be on its way?).
As your complaint was started in September they should have issued a response by now.
However I agree with the others on here who say that there's no point getting angry.
Barclays have agreed to refund any PPI complaint (they haven't rejected) that was recieved before 20th April. Assuming they didn't issue you with a rejection letter you will be getting a full refund!

I know of at least one other complaint where they failed to meet this deadline but given the volumes they were dealing with a few were always going to slip the net.
If I were you, I would sit back and wait for the money to roll in, in the next couple of months. Effectively you're getting 8% interest during the wait! You could report Barclays to the FSA but they already know 3% of complaints haven't been met within the time frame, so I can't see that helping.0 -

Yeah that is true it just does not help when people start insulting me on here for no reason its really wrong.
Thank you for your point

Hi, I'm new to this, but can anyone help me.!!!
Been trying to claim missold PPI with HSBC for some time. Despite sending letters and making calls, I am getting nowhere.
My loan has now ended and the latest defence to their argument is that they no longer have the paperwork but are trying to arrange a scanned copy which they have on their computer that may be available to me.! f not, then I am out of luck and cannot make a claim.
Any suggestions as to what I can do next who be greatly appreciated.!
After reading other posts, it appears that its a long and hard process. I can see why their tactics put people off making a claim, but I'm currently on maternity leave and the extra money would be great now, so I need to keep on at them.
Any help or suggestions anyone can give me would be much appreciated.

ok, so from this it sounds like FOS wrote to Barclays on 8th July.I have spoken to the FOS who are very friendly and they have advised that they gave Barclays 16weeks from the 8th July to settle which means they still have another 2 weeks left
16 weeks is up on 28 October, its only 3 September now, so more than 2 weeks left.
oh, now they didnt correspond with barclays. are they sending subliminal messages then?!I did not say anything about the FOS issusing a letter in July????????0 -

Right, so if your complaint is at FOS, none of this 16 week stuff applies, as thats for pre- FOS complaints.
Are you saying that FOS have upheld and Barclays have not responded? if so its likely that barclays have disagreed it will go to an ombudsman for a final decision.0
