Completely annoyed with Barclays this is a joke!!!!

So the 31st August has come and gone still nothing and these cowboys are telling me that I need to speak to the FOS directly.
I have spoken to the FOS who are very friendly and they have advised that they gave Barclays 16weeks from the 8th July to settle which means they still have another 2 weeks left. This is so unacceptable because I have received so many letters from Barclays saying that they are going to settle before the 31/08/2011 and now they are refusing to accept responsiblity for all the wrong infomation I have been told and the promise letters sent out.
This has been going on since September 2010 may I also add i am so annoyed :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Barclays for all people complaining before the 21st of April made a promise that they would deal with all these before the DEADLINE of August 31st. They have not done this. In your case the 16 weeks isnt applicable and the person at the FOS is incorrect. The 16 week rule is for those after April 21st. They have broken the rules therefore.
Here is the announcement on the FOS website
Under FSA rules PPI complaints have to be responded to within eight weeks. The extension agrees a timeframe for the firms to deal with the claims that have been put on hold and also agrees additional time for the firms to deal with PPI complaints received since the end of their involvement in the judicial review:- PPI complaints still with the firm but put on hold during the judicial review will receive a decision by the end of August;
- PPI complaints received after the conclusion of judicial review but on or before the 31 August will be responded to within 16 weeks; and
- PPI complaints received on or after 1 September and before 31 December 2011 will be responded to within 12 weeks.
- keep PPI complainants and their customers fully informed; and
- provide the FSA with regular reports on compliance.
So you have every right to be annoyed by this. Keep hammering the FOS. Keep notes of the promises and broken promises along with the corresondence you have had Tell the FOS they are wrong and go for extra compensation for distress and inconvienience.

Thanks very much Niggly i will be on their case all next week even more fumming now :mad:0 -
I`m sorry but judging by the people i have had to deal with at Barclays / First plus then i have to say they are all a bunch of inept morons.
At least 8 times i have told them that they keep sending letters to the wrong address. Each time i was told a letter would be sent to my correct updated address but , no , nothing turns up. Finally i went to my old house and luckily the chap there had a stack of letters for me.
So i emailed the CEO explaining the situation, gave my correct address on that email and had a response from some wally who apologised for the situation then proudly stated i can confirm a new letter has today been posted to - my old address.
i have emailed the CEO again since then , two days ago in fact and have had no response.
I feel they are taking pleasure in this as they have the hump they were caught with there hands in the cookie jar and now begrudgingly have to pay back but are doing everything they can to make the process as difficult as possible.
Also, like loads of others, the offer letter when i finally got it was wrong. This i feel is so at least they can say they kept to there word of responding by the 31st August. Now its wrong ,how long is it going to take to get a new correct offer? Do i go back to the bottom of the pile?
They have made me so angry i feel like driving to Cardiff and squatting in the CEOs office until they pay me.

The thing is why is it with the FOS. If they said we are not upholding your complaint then you went to the FOS this will lift you outside those people included in the no quibble statement made by Barclays.
If however Barclays have been writing and keep telling you by the 31st August then you should be included surely. Otherwise they would have said you have to deal through the FOS.
Whatever happened FOS have been soft if they have then told FP to uphold the complaint and then given them another 16 weeks to deal with it. FOS hould have said deal by the end of August as pre Judical review.

Strictly speaking its 16 weeks to issue a final response not settle. But more relevent to you, Barclays made a business decision to uphold/settle all PPI complaints they received before 20 April 2011, if they hadnt made that decision they would have been within their rights to reject your complaint if they felt it was mis-sold.
They have thousands and thousands in a backlog and im sure they'll get round to you soon. They have agreed to pay out so you just need to be patient for a little while longer.0 -
wow what a joke but at least they still honoured the date imagine mine not even an apology letter, yes. i agree its almost like they are so bitter that they have to pay. when did you submit your claim?I`m sorry but judging by the people i have had to deal with at Barclays / First plus then i have to say they are all a bunch of inept morons.

I put my original claim to Barclays back in aug 2010.
They passed the buck to First Plus even though they are same company. first plus tried to blame another company ( cant recall off top of my head) and that is when the whole saga of letters going to wrong address and being hung up on on the phone started, and i was`nt getting anywhere, so i went to FOS in December 2010.
Good luck with yours, i am sure with the FOS on your side you will get there in the end.0 -

The 16 week figure only applied to cases which had NOT already gone to FOS at the time the concession was granted by the FSA.
As yours already had, it is FOS that sets the timescale. If you think FOS should not allow Barclays more time it is FOS you must complain to.0
