i know you say you aren't pud people, but are you cake/biscuitty type people? if so, you can do a lot worse than to stew your apple down (2 apples, cored, peeled, cut into slices, dumped in a saucepan with a handful of sultanas, tsp or two of cinnamon, tablespoon of water, cooked till its mushy) then, make some flapjacks as normal, only, instead of putting all the flapjack mix into the baking tin, put half in, then the stewed apple (only in the middle - don't let it touch the sides), then the rest of the flapjack mix ontop. Bake as normal. this is gorgeous, either warm from the oven (with a spoon as its rather crumbly) or cold (when it sets a bit more solid) in a lunch box or something. I got the idea from some one on here who writes her own blog and it was on there. Not sure whether she wants her blog advertised or not so i won't say who it is - if you see this, d, and you want me to fess up that it was you, yell!!

When I cook liver and bacon, I always add a little sliced apple too... an idea I got from a restaurant in Holland.
Apple sauce for your roast pork (freezes well)
Pork apple and cider casserole
Cake? Try Dorset apple cake - can even be eaten with butter as a bread (albeit a very sweet bread)
Can you dry cooking apples to create a snack? (I guess the dehydration will sweeten them) - might be worth a try if you have loads and loads to use..
Of course, any undamaged ones can be kept in a cool, dry place (shed/garage etc) on trays (not touching each other), thus meaning you don't have to use them all at once.0 -
Apple sauce is good with sausages as well.
My step Dad did a great casserole with chopped leeks, thick sliced apple, chunks of ordinary or smoked sausages, sliced onions and cider
Pureed cooked apple can be frozen or bottled without sweetening and then sweetened to taste when you want to use it.
Dried apple pieces can be added to granola type cereal or museli. (Dip slices in ascorbic or citric acid solution or lemon or lime juice and water before drying to help stop browning)0 -

How about cooking it up with red cabbage? Yummy with all pork & game dishes:-
Wash & chop up a red cabbage..(you need a bigish pan for this although like spinach it cooks down, you will up end up with a lot loss than you think)
Fry onion to nicely golden with some garlic (ordinary cooking oil or butter is best)...
add the cabbage (wont need any extra water)
add about 2 - 3 teaspoons of sugar....
add some chopped up apples
if you have some red wine a good slosh too
let it simmer up for about 20 mins (keep trying it)...
it freezes very well and looks gorgeous
best wishes...0 -

checked online for this but sadly only found 3 recipes, none using many apples, so it does look as though you are stuck with buying the magazine if you want the recipes
