Nix143 wrote:Not an expert by any means but aren't cooking apples a LOT sourer than normal eating apples? Wouldn't that mean you would have VERY tart jiuce and potentially a rather strong laxative?
Sorry not to be more helpful, sure someone will come along and tell you how you can do it
xx
I did think of mixing it with eating apples, that way it isnt so tart.
Not sure if I fancy doing it now, not if I have to spend the rest of day with a toilet strapped to my behindI also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

We find eating apples make very sweet apple juice so I always do a mix of cookers and eaters, about 50/50.We have apple juice everyday until the apples are used -usually early March and never have any problems!0

Juice them, then heat it up and make something nice and warming? Perhaps with spices and honey..? Wish I had some, though I think I would go with a crumble, or stuffed and baked, and then maybe freeze some once cooked.0

A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0

peel core and roughly chop the apples then put in a pan with a little water and some sugar. Bramley's are quite tart so you need to add sugar to taste. I usually put a little in to start with as you can always add more later if they are too tart for you.
Once you have your stewed apple, you can make a crumble!0 -
Why not peel, core and slice them, and layer in a dish with sugar (and you can add some spice such as ground cinnamon or ginger as well if you like), then cover with your rolled out puff pastry, make a hole in the top, brush with a little milk and sprinkle with a little more sugar, and bake according to the instructions on the pastry packaging? The apples will cook underneath the pastry without any need to pre-cook them. You will then have a lovely apple pie which you can eat with ice cream, custard or cream.0

Ello lovely ladies, I need to pick your brains about what to do with some cooking apples I was given yesterday. We aren't really pud people here so all the usual things like pie, crumble or baked apples are out - what else could I do with them?
