    Thanks, good info.

As I understand it though, the staff are not allowed to put things aside for themselves. Its Tesco policy to stop things being hidden away and then months later staff grabbing the 'bargain'. I am aware of anecdotal evidence where it has happened and staff sacked hence why the ruling was implemented.

On the other side of the coin, I think Tesco staff are not treated as well as they could be and should be allowed some of the bargains. As always its that old balance problem again isn't it? What does irk me is when the staff blatantly shirk their duties to the customers and squirrel lots of stuff away for their own gain. I know of two stores that have this week done just that. Its not fair.

If anyone thinks its just sour grapes, its not, I got my laptop but other MSE'ers who I saw obviously milling around and asking staff got told there was non while the staff were actively scanning and taking stuff for themselves. Thats clearly not right.

I found the pro ceramic straighteners today. 5 sets. I took 2 and pointed the lovely helpful lady SA's to the other 3. I wonder if karma really exists? :D:D:D

I agree with your post no one would say that putting things away for a long period and waiting for a reduction is correct but that sort of thing would be fool hardy and easy for staff to get caught.
But I do think that staff should be able to snap up the odd bargain within reason.

I have worked for a supermarket (actually implementing price changes) and would share bargains out amongst the staff when possible. Working with the general public can be tough, lol, so I don't begrudge them a bargain or too as long as I get some too.:D

Oh, oh, apart from getting the photo frames for under a tenner ages ago, I have missed all the lovely bargains. Did anyone have any luck in Tesco n'abbey or carrick? Poor hubby is off tomorrow and I am ITCHING to get out and prowl for Christmas pressies but im wondering if its too late?

I met a couple of 'friends of Martin' today in spr1ngh1ll b@ng0r. They'd been quite successful in those 2 stores but I don't think there was much left. I got 2 of the filter kettles (one each for me & mum), 3 Puppy play-dohs (2 for mine and 1 for the neighbour) and a hairdryer although it was £13 (whoever said these were scanning cheap in my store - thank you but the only 2 left were scanning expensive).

All I really need is a toaster and a deep fat fryer. I have pretty much everything else I'll need for my new life but the Ex owns those items so I'll need my own.
  • This thread seems to suggest "Health and Beauty, and Clothes, and biscuits aisle"

Thanks for that  - I thought there must be at least one in there somewhere as it is such a big store - I go in all the time but I've never seen one in clothes, beauty or biscuits! I shall search next time I'm in - I have been dying to scan some of the baby stuff but don't want to take it to cs :o

I have to say that anyone who ebays is buying it from somewhere cheaper so they are all making profit on what they sell. I ebayed my way through 3 years of uni as a mature student with my hubby working nights so we didn't have to get childcare - i bought reduced clothing from a high street store and sold it on. I paid tax and was registered and everything.

I don't ebay anymore, you have to jump through too many hoops.
That's just simply not true. I ebay clothes, dvds, computer games, jewellery and anything that we just don't use or want anymore. I often get considerably less than I paid for it originally, but in this decadent climate of consumerism we're living in, I can't bear to bin anything. I've sold many many things for 99p over the years and love to think of people getting something cheaply, which they want, which would otherwise languish in a cupboard or drawer.

It is a doubled edge sword. We do take a lot of crap and I feel we should get some perks. However (again I can only speak for my store), my staff have enough work to do without shirking off to check prices. If I catch my team at it they are in trouble. One of my team was recently subject to disciplinary action for hiding cheap goods and selling them on ebay

Can you tell me which straighteners are cheap? I've promised not to get involved in buying stuff I don't need this year, regardless of price, but dd has just told me her straighteners have broken! Grrr.

Tesco 'professional hair' Pro ceramic straightener. £4

    Bar code ends 7044

Awww no I was in WA today but didn't ask about the E book readers as only kindle on display. Was it the PRS300, DD wants a kindle for Xmas but a sony would do.

I did get a Sony W310 from newport last week for £25 and was chuffed. I know its not a popular opinion but if my OH worked for Mr.Ts I wouldn't let him in if he didn't come home with a few bargains.

is this the Sony EBook Reader PRS300 model I should be looking for or different? tia

Yep it was the PRS300 the 600 model was reduced in N£wport but they werent able to check stock levels as it was 6am in morning and the duty manager didnt have the keys to the stock room-apparently!

When he went to WA and asked for the 600 model they didnt have any of those but brought out the 300model which scanned at £17!
