TESCO Silly Price Electrical Items
Comments

Did you just lift them and check them at the scanner yourself - r were you prepared to pay the £100? Id hate to carry loads all the way to the till and then say no thanks? Did you notice wre any sel giving the correct reduced prices?
No the sels wer the full prices. I had a list of items that other people had got from this thread so I knew what I was looking for. I took the items to the price checker to check before I took them to the tills0 -
Been to S1lv3r@#rn today - Nothing at all, not a sausage!
The sat nav's were all removed from the shelfs, marked out of stock. Found a bosch toaster someone mentioned before, but price checked it and it came up 19.95 Not a good start. Bit of a pain when I really had no idea what I was looking for or where I was looking.
Moving on from there I headed to the Spr1ng@#rn Extra, again shopped seemed mobbed. Saw a lot of obvious MSE's members loitering about the price checker machine in the drinks isle with trolley full of kids toys, and I mean several trolleys full packed well over the top. Once again hunting in the electrical's never really turned up much, again no cameras or sat nav's stood out. I did manage to get the two set pyrex dish set, which was sitting on a shelf without any tags. Rang through at £1.75 bought 4 packs. Ran through a couple vax vacuums and a couple toasters but everything was going through at the marked price so gave up and called it quits!
In the end found something, but not exactly what I was looking for
Maybe another time
Shame you didn't bump into me then i could have pointed you in the direction of the toni & guy starightners or the babyliss one's or the karcher hoover at £15 .........
i think i was the only MSE'r in there as i had to show everyone else what was reduced.........i never had trolley's full of toys though i had 1 trolley and it had various items in there .........
got a shaver for £8 in silverburn :T
got the revlon mirror for £2.30 ish :T
toni & guy starightners in silv**bur* & Sprin*bu*rn
silver b**n had loads of these at least 50 pair so will still be plenty left...............i only took 3:xmastree: :snow_grin Santa's Little Helper :snow_grin :xmastree:0 -

I'm sure you're chuffed to bits with that!
Can you tell us the model number of the Braun shaver & was it with all the other shavers & can i ask which side of the electricials desk the gear4 halo dock was on?
TIA
The shaver is out in the boot of the Car so il check it later for you. The halo iPod dock was down in the very bottom left corner of the electricals section and there was another two on the shelves0 -
Opened a can of worms there didn't I. So to answer your questions:
In my opinion £1/1p stock should be raffled for charity (this actually only happens with high value items, other stock is just simply sold and the money goes to the store social fund) all proceeds go to our charity of the year and our Restbite (Canteen) Team Leader makes sure it does. We can refuse to sell 1p stock if it hasn't gone through the till, but if it has is yours.
I obviously can't speak for every store but I can give you an idea of the situation in Group 43 which is mainly centered in the midlands. Prices are often cheaper than their SEL's as Price Integrity (the department responsible for labelling/ensuring correct pricing) simply haven't changed the labels. This isn't laziness on their part its just simply the amount of labels that they are expected to change is staggering. Since the end of last year stores have been under enormous pressure to keep their payroll to an absolute minimum, so if someone leaves they are not replaced and overtime is next to impossible to get. The company does everything it can to minimise costs in order to protect profit margins (if we were to issue a profit warning our share price would tumble and that is unacceptable tooH/O) so if you undermanned things get missed, its not right but its the way it is.
As to store's not selling reduced Electrical goods, it's at their discretion if they do or don't. I do.
Prices should be the same nationally, what you are probably seeing is different models of items.
I have been on holiday since last week but I would imagine it's to give them time to change SEL's & point of sale. Before I finished we had something down called extra factor where we asked so sponsor key lines to push and was briefed on the price cuts.
Any other questions fire away0 -
thanks aj19812011 - your info is greatly appreciated0

Prices definitely aren't the same nationally, not even locally even for same items, same models, same barcodes.0

Generally things are the same but you do get lots of regional variations. Every store has a product range based on it size and location, that takes in factors regarding the local population. For example stores in less affluent towns may have a large value range and minimal Finest. Whereas for example my store is located in a area geared towards families and students so we have a fair mix0
