But please take a look at this gready W**ker on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/takemydeals/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3692

He is selling 18 Cameras, 10 B&D jigsaws, 25 Grooming Products (Straigtners, Shavers etc), 8 Irons, 8 photoframes, 2 Portable Twin screen DVD players, 4 Ipod docks this list goes on.......

He must either lurk on these forums or work at tescos....either way..If you are reading this you are a LOW LIFE PARASITE, I dont envy any honest bargain hunter in your local area with people like you!!!

Sorry for the rant, but this person really got under my skin!

He appears to be somewhere in the Chepstow area...

Opened a can of worms there didn't I. So to answer your questions:

In my opinion £1/1p stock should be raffled for charity (this actually only happens with high value items, other stock is just simply sold and the money goes to the store social fund) all proceeds go to our charity of the year and our Restbite (Canteen) Team Leader makes sure it does. We can refuse to sell 1p stock if it hasn't gone through the till, but if it has is yours.

I obviously can't speak for every store but I can give you an idea of the situation in Group 43 which is mainly centered in the midlands. Prices are often cheaper than their SEL's as Price Integrity (the department responsible for labelling/ensuring correct pricing) simply haven't changed the labels. This isn't laziness on their part its just simply the amount of labels that they are expected to change is staggering. Since the end of last year stores have been under enormous pressure to keep their payroll to an absolute minimum, so if someone leaves they are not replaced and overtime is next to impossible to get. The company does everything it can to minimise costs in order to protect profit margins (if we were to issue a profit warning our share price would tumble and that is unacceptable tooH/O) so if you undermanned things get missed, its not right but its the way it is.

As to store's not selling reduced Electrical goods, it's at their discretion if they do or don't. I do.

Prices should be the same nationally, what you are probably seeing is different models of items.

I have been on holiday since last week but I would imagine it's to give them time to change SEL's & point of sale. Before I finished we had something down called extra factor where we asked so sponsor key lines to push and was briefed on the price cuts.

    Any other questions fire away

    Thanks, good info.

As I understand it though, the staff are not allowed to put things aside for themselves. Its Tesco policy to stop things being hidden away and then months later staff grabbing the 'bargain'. I am aware of anecdotal evidence where it has happened and staff sacked hence why the ruling was implemented.

On the other side of the coin, I think Tesco staff are not treated as well as they could be and should be allowed some of the bargains. As always its that old balance problem again isn't it? What does irk me is when the staff blatantly shirk their duties to the customers and squirrel lots of stuff away for their own gain. I know of two stores that have this week done just that. Its not fair.

If anyone thinks its just sour grapes, its not, I got my laptop but other MSE'ers who I saw obviously milling around and asking staff got told there was non while the staff were actively scanning and taking stuff for themselves. Thats clearly not right.

I found the pro ceramic straighteners today. 5 sets. I took 2 and pointed the lovely helpful lady SA's to the other 3. I wonder if karma really exists? :D:D:D
  • Oh, oh, apart from getting the photo frames for under a tenner ages ago, I have missed all the lovely bargains. Did anyone have any luck in Tesco n'abbey or carrick? Poor hubby is off tomorrow and I am ITCHING to get out and prowl for Christmas pressies but im wondering if its too late?

I have to say that anyone who ebays is buying it from somewhere cheaper so they are all making profit on what they sell. I ebayed my way through 3 years of uni as a mature student with my hubby working nights so we didn't have to get childcare - i bought reduced clothing from a high street store and sold it on. I paid tax and was registered and everything.

I don't ebay anymore, you have to jump through too many hoops.

Can you tell me which straighteners are cheap? I've promised not to get involved in buying stuff I don't need this year, regardless of price, but dd has just told me her straighteners have broken! Grrr.
