Don't be confused! Just do what those with experience of withdrawing from their e-Savings accounts are telling you and order a card reader!dorsetlady wrote: »I'm really confused now with all of this contradictory advice! If the Nat West bank workers say I can't transfer my money out I don't know how I can do otherwise. Thanks for trying to advise me though.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
I can use my partner's card reader - the Nat West said they are all the same but the Nat West insisted that I can't have a card with this account and that I have to open a current account. :mad:0

The staff you have spoken with are mistaken or don't understand their own products.
You do need a card and reader to make online transfers to 3rd party accounts but not to make transfers to other accounts in your own name listed on online banking.
That card does not have to be a debit card it can be an "online banking card" issued to those with an esaver but no current account. Just order them online.
Here's mine
Thanks. I have ordered a card reader and card and opened a current account. I'll have to see what happens.0 -

As I said, they don't understand their own products.0 -
That's odd as the t&c says you can not transfer out externally.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

You probably can! When you log in to your account, from the "Accounts Summary" screen. click on "Payments & Transfers" and then [assuming you haven't already set one up] "Add a new payee". Make sure that you enter the details of the receiving account very carefully or any transfers will end up in the wrong account! That should enable you to set up transfers to that account.dorsetlady wrote: »I can use my partner's card reader - the Nat West said they are all the same....".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
stclair - I am assuming we are talking about the NatWest e-Saver account. Indeed the T&Cs from which you quoted 19:10 and 19:11 are the same as those I saved when I opened my e-Saver a year ago.
In that case please can you explain how I managed to arrange online withdrawals from my e-Saver account when I have never held a current account with NatWest.
Edit: Thank you noh for showing all that dorsetlady needs!
I'm not fussed to be honest how it was achieved but the terns and conditions do state you can not make external transfers. If its a printing ever or what I don't know.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
dorsetlady wrote: »I posted earlier about the trouble I had logging in to my Nat West account. After waiting for the activation code I logged in and wanted to transfer my money out. I was then told I had to have a card and card reader - which I don't have!
You would appear to be the third person in the last week to have this problem (myself included.)
NatWest need to sort themselves out.0 -
That's odd as the t&c says you can not transfer out externally.
No they don't.
You are misinterpreting them.
They say as you previously posted.19.10 Withdrawals from your account can be made:
(a) by electronic transfer to any NatWest account in your
name (or, if you hold the account jointly, to a NatWest
joint account in the same names or a personal NatWest
account of a party to the account); or
(b) by third party mandate to any other UK bank account.a third party mandate is an instruction to move funds to a third party
ie an account external to Natwest.Aso take a look at the FAQs for the account click " Common questions" tab here
www.natwest.com/personal/savings/g1/instant-access/e-savings.ashx
Then see
"How do I make withdrawals?
Simply make an electronic payment from your e-Savings account to any other UK bank account. To ensure your funds remain safe, you will need to use your card reader."0 -
The process is presumably covered by whatever is meant by "19.10 Withdrawals from your account can be made:..... (b) by third party mandate to any other UK bank account."That's odd as the t&c says you can not transfer out externally.
Edit: noh has again provided a more comprehensive answer!".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0
