    right ive done the laptop! i set it to the highest security, how can i check its all secured and that now?

    wpa with automatic key does that sound right? i tested it with my psp and it asked me for the key before i could connect to it. can i change this key, the wep and wpa key is the same, it came on a bit of paper...also whats a wireless access point?

    A wireless access point is a device similar to a wireless router, which just allows people to connect to a network wirelessly.

    Re the key, yes you should be able to change it, not sure what it generated, but it should be something between 8 and 63 characters long. The longer and more random it is, the more secure. Something like https://www.grc.com/passwords is probably as secure as you can make it, but is a pain to enter onto a PSP.. but once it's done, it's done.

    Is the laptop working wired, or wireless?

    wired. the desktop wont connect, as you said. its connecting to a network adapter though whatever that is, 400mbps? dunno what that is, my internet is 1mb. its telling me to run the network wizard on the host comp, when i do that the laptop says its not connected to a network....?
