  • The list in your signature looks like it's getting smaller Squidge, well done!

Taking food to work sounds like a good money saver, especially at £15 per week - I've always done it and find it to be a good thing :)

Regarding the OH's birthday... Was the treat worth it? Did your OH deserve it? Was it worth putting off your DFD for a little bit in order to do it?

If you answered yes to at least 1 of the above then don't be so hard on yourself - if life ran like a spreadsheet then likely there'd be none of us DFW's here to start with :)

Christmas is always an expensive period - the way I see it is that as long as my debt doesn't increase (like it has for every year previous to this!) then that's a good thing in itself. Got to keep the debt/life balance in perspective!

[EDIT] I'm up to £10.90 in my OnePoll account, catch up!
    I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T
  • The present was definately worth it with was he's been through lately. I've created a new budget for November payday and just gotta try and stick to it and hope my wages don't get messed up!
    DEBT TOTAL: £7609.44
  • Payday is this Friday coming. I've just got to hold out til then and everything will be ok I will be able to start again! I'm going to rework my sig and instead of having all the different debts in there I'm going to have one total that I can strike out and write the lower one next to it every time I pay something off!
    DEBT TOTAL: £7609.44
  • Good luck Squidge Im enjoying your diary - Is the OnePoll surveys hard work? I tried some in the past and it was a nightmare, sometimes I would spend 2 - 5 min completing the "do you qualify survey" only to be told I dont fit the bill.
    Current Debt (Nov 2011): £24,800
My MSE DFD: - An Entrepreneur In Debt
  • I did find that sometimes I would spend time going through loads to find that I wasn't suitable. But I did a load the other night and qualified for them all.

Do you have a diary Charlie?

  • I have a OnePoll account but always forget to check it unless they email me.

It takes so long so build up the balance. I think I'm on about £11 and £5 of that was the initial sign up bonus about 18 months ago.
    June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
Official mortgage end date August 2027 :(
Current rate 2.59% until August 2020

Glad to hear it. In that case put it to the back of your mind and forget about it - it sounds like it's not even worth worrying about.

  • So I phoned this morning to ask for a claim pack because the HMRC site told me I was entitled to some Working Tax Credit. The woman on the phone went through the same questions with me and it now turns out that I'm not.

I am getting a refund of about £26 into my account because something I bought has broke so I suppose thats some extra petrol money there! Should be in my account by Wednesday. I'm making lunch to take to work with me today and the only money I will have spent is £10 on petrol.

Is it wrong to put some money in a savings account while I clear my debts. Me and the other half want to get a place together. I won't be debt free when we move but I will be in less debt if I concentrate and stick to my budgets. Even if I'm only putting a little bit away at a time at least that way I won't be in as much debt or have my debts getting bigger if I've got some money set aside.

Now I sound like I'm trying to justify things again! Anyways Pay Day Friday!

  • I would pay off debt than have savings. The APR difference alone is enough to justify this.

  • I know I think I'm just a little bored of being at home. I want something new. I have to rework my budget because I'm being transferred back to my store sooner than first agreed so I won't have the expenses to be helping me out. I have one final week and thats it. It's going to be a tough one but I'll have to cut back. At least I can go back to my £20 a week petrol usage - £80 a month is always better than £200!
