Hi
My wife got a letter from Capquest asking for money as she hasn't contacted them and tbh we haven't heard of them before.
They say it RE arrow global limited but we don't have a clue who they are either. They say she has till 20th July to contact them. We are going to phone them Monday but I'm thinking maybe to email them as we will have it in black and white. Is this a better way.0 -

Arrow global are debt purchasers.
They buy old delinquent credit card/catalogue/or loan debts.
Ignore there deadlines, they are meaningless drivel designed to get you to contact them.
Stay off the phone, don't bother with email, send the provit letter, make them prove you owe what they say you do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I received a letter today from Capquest offering a100% settlement discount, meaning my depth was totally written off. This debt is over ten years old, so I called to confirm I would accept the offer, only to be told a batch of letters were sent in error. I suggested that these letters were a deliberate ploy to force contact but they insisted otherwise. I ended up agreeing to pay £5.00 per month by direct debit. My question is what do I do now? Can I cancel the payment or am I stuck with it?0

NO peanut, don't pay them a thing!!!!!!!!!
If it's ten years old and no payment was made during that time then the debt is statute barred, don't pay anything!!!
Your only redeeming factor is that it would of been statute barred before the phone call, so admitting liability over the phone now can't unbarr it.
You should send the statute barred letter off the National Debtline website to them available here :

I'm sorry your son is being pestered in this way but I'm also glad I'm not on my own. I have had 3 letters and telephone calls from these leeches. I too settled all my debts (when my husband passed away in 2008) but they continue to harass me. The amounts always change, no one can tell me where they originate from and they become very threatening and nasty when I tell them they are wrong. Scamming lowlife are now being blocked and ignored. They are making my life and obviously many others, a complete misery.0

I've had some calls from capquest on my answerphone (I'm not home to pick up the landline often) but nothing through the post, and can't think what the calls might be about - haven't defaulted on anything either now or in the past. They leave automated messages. Should I ring to find out or is it a scam? I'm suspicious as nothing provided in writing and messages are not in anyway personalised, but am getting annoyed by the messages!0

Most likely what is called a fishing trip.
Where they are unsure of a debtors full details, they target anyone with similar details in the hope of a hit.
Save yourself the hassle and ignore them.
You don't need to respond to them unless you get something in the post specifically addressed to you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi All,
First post for me...apologies in advance!
Similar to posts on here, I've received texts and letters from Capquest saying I owe them a debt for Intelligent Finance.
I had a loan with these guys, I'd say maybe longer than 10 years ago.
A long time ago I did get in some financial trouble, but cleared all debts some time back, this one included.
Challenge I have, is that I have no paperwork on the old loan. As I cleared it, I kept for a short time then threw it away.
Can any one give me some advise as to what I do please. I'm sick of them chasing me but don't have the detail to prove and make them go away.
Thanks in advance.0 -

Hi bill,
You don't need to prove anything.
If they are chasing you for an alleged debt, it's them that have to prove you owe it.
Not up to you to prove you don't.
Send them the provit letter, available here :
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2607247
Adapt it to your situation.
See what they come back to you with, chances are it will be statute barred by now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
