Ok, thank you.
If I don't report it - how soon will it disappear off my record? Is it six years from the date of the account being opened or it defaulting?0 -

It's more difficult to determine with bank accounts as there are no fixed repayments, you should assume it will be a couple of months before the default date, so 6 years from then.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I can't add a screen shot because I'm too new to the forum but it reads as follows:
Acc type: Credit Card
Acc start date: 15/11/2010
Acc end date: 31/01/2013
Repayment frequency: Monthly
Date of default: 23/05/2012
What should I do? What if they don't write to me first, how long will it stay on my record? Or should I reach out to them? I don't then want them to start phishing for my details but equally I don't want this affecting my credit record.0 -

Ah, so it's a credit card, not a bank account.
The default date is a guide as to when payments were stopped, you can assume it must of been approx 3/4 months prior to that, so it would be gone in approx January 2018.
Well previous advice stands, report as fraud and write to crapquest with your concerns, it's the only way to have it expunged from your file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I received a letter yesterday from Capquest stating that they had bought my debt from Abbey National (as was). This debt has been covered by my bankruptcy in 2009 so they havent got a hope in hell of receiving anything from me. Ive been advised not to contact them as they will not give up. Im contacting the official receiver tomorrow to clarify what I need to do.0

Hi,
Yes that's the right thing to do.
Theses accounts, as you probably know, get sold on in bulk, with very little information attached to them, they are most likely, unaware of your Bankruptcy.

Unless you get something in writing saying you owe this etc, ignore completely.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. If it bothers you that much your mobile network will give you a new SIM card with a different number for free, if you tell them you've been receiving malicious texts/calls.
Other option, which I wouldn't recommend, would be to contact them and see what they want !!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
