My visitors have gone now :j and I can get back to normal at last.
I did the shopping on Thursday rather than Saturday this week to accomodate the extra people and will need to look at the meal plan and what needs using up first to make sure I maximise the food in the house.
I may need to buy a little bit more fruit later in the week but will NOT go to a supermarket until next weekend.

I'm making sweet potato soup for tea today and hopefully will have enough for tomorrow too after my first day back in work after 6 weeks off:eek: Will need easy tea after the shock to the system!:rotfl:
  • Just popping in to update my spends. Did a biggish shop at A*di of £41.10 on thursaday to get things in for DD's DofE expedition and top up with bits for the house. Then over the weekend can add another £20 spent at various places for things I needed to complete a recipe for last nights dinner and wine:o. So will update sig with another £61.10. Hopefully no spending this week except for milk and coffee for which I have a voucher.

NSD today and am off to do the 3rd part of the coastal trail and have snacks already to take. Tonight will be a white cabbage gratin from freezer and baked potatoes.

Yesterday i told my family that they can't keep eating the cheese the way they do...they got through 500g in two days and it's just too expensive to keep buying it!

As soon as you get home grate it then freeze it in a plastic box. Bang the box to loosen it and you can take out exactly how much you need. Fast to defrost this way too.

i buy pre grated cheese it's usually cheaper, when i do buy blocks i grate half of it and put it in a tub, hubby knows to use this first before he touches the block, oddly i've never told him he just knows lol

i'm very tempted to go stock up on more fishfiingers and then to to te$co for frubes and scampi, but i don't even know if my kids like scampi, oh does but i don't so we rarely have it, it will be used if they don't like it but it will take up alot of room in my freezer, i'm not sure if i wanna give up that much space to fish, altho the fishfingers work out at 66p a box which is cheaper than value (not thats i'd buy value fishfingers) but the offers in all week, but do i wanna have to go and bring all the kids in?And really we'd be better with proper yogurts for the kids than frubes even if it is a good deal, i'll see how the day goes and if i can resist and come back and update later

off to mil for dinner :)

    Hi all

Had a visit to Mr S and spent £31.74 and bought LOADS:D, needed to load the cupboards for the month and bought a few bits for lunchboxes - our local Mr S is having a re-vamp and its quite annoying that they appear to have 'lost' alot of their basic range, hope they re- appear when they are done:o

Also popped into wholesalers and bought a 5k gammon joint for £18' half raw in freezer, half cooked and sliced for sandwiches etc and £5 on 2k of good quality sausages all in freezer:)

Did lots of washing yesterday, just before the heaven,s opened, had to resort to the tumble this morning:eek:

Gammon, mash and veg for dinner with parsley sauce :T

Hope everyone,s having a good weekend xx

  • Morning just got back from Sainsburgs and spent £56.58 pretty pleased as before using a £12 off £60 spend and various other money off vouchers it had come to just over £80, also clocked up 840 nectar points just from this shopping trip:D, managed to get a bargain joint of pork reduced to £3 its almost 2 1/2 kilos in weight only problem is both of my freezers are chocker and i can't fit it in so have changed the menu plan and will have rst pork tonight and probably the rest of the week, also anyone that has done the buzzagent DOVE trial, the shampoo and conditioner is currently BOGOF in Sainsburys, so after buying one of each and using the money off vouchers it works out at 66p a bottle;).

  • Hi All,
Had a few spends already this month. but not much out of the grocery budget. I spent ~£4 on cleaning stuff in sainsbobs for the next few months, Domes*os bleach & Fla*h all purpose cleaners on half price - also toilet cleaner as not sure if you can use multipurpose to clean the loo? Also bought some food colouring (reduced) to make my coloured candles for the craft fair.
On thursday I spent £2 in sainsbobs, on there 2 for £2 on smarties, to make a gift for friday.
Last night on the way home from work, i gave dad a call as mum is away to see whether he needed anything, at which time he invited me for tea, so i bought pud, and him some bread the apple juice on offer and then Onions and 4 bottles of vinegar to make apple chutney today (with the millions of apples i picked on fri) which came to £7.11. and then today i bought 12 x 5pk lidls apple juice, more smarties for the craft fair items i'm making, and then some bargain finds at the car boot. I got 2 x 1 gallon demijohns for £1.50 each! a beginners guide to making wine for 20p and then some bits for the reminiscence rooms at work.

Craft Items - £7.35 for making gifts / candles £3.20 for wine making things.
Grocery - £5.13 (some of which i will get back when i sell the apple chutney at craft fair)
    Spaving - £8.88 - on 90 cartons apple juice.

Don't think i will need anything for the rest of the week, i have lots of bread flour and yeast sachets, lots of crackers and a freezer and cupboards full of things which i am going to inventory whilst the chutney is simmering!

Enjoy the end of the weekend and have a lovely week!

    SS xx

Hi, just wanted to ask people what they class as a NSD. For example, I am decorating and need some more paint, would people include that in their grocery total, even though its a different budget. I know it doesn't really matter, but just wondered how others did this or do you class NSD as purely grocery.
  • Another £9.61 in Mr S today but went in and only bought what we needed - milk, actimel, cereal and loo roll. I have a freezer full of meat so don't need to get any at the moment but I'm hoping to keep the grocery spend really low this month and use the extra for another meat bulk buy.
Well its back to school tomorrow and then I'll be in Mr S every second or so day for things for lessons so I often fall off the NSD bandwagon, will have to try to be strong.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D
