Updating last few days spends
Mr T's £29.73
Mr A £4.20
I think I've got £44.51 left, I need to go to shops as I need bread and milk. I think I am going to stay within budget and that's never happened.
I will need to go and doublecheck as I've probably forgot to count something:rotfl:0 -
Well I am declaring at £374.72 so made it under target. Not often that happens! I have tried to stretch joints and chicken this month and it has made a difference. We had a visitor staying for 3 nights and she contributed some food which was yummy and OS. And I made more veggie dishes. We always enjoy sweet potato curry. This time I put butterbeans in it and made the leftovers into soup for lunch the next day.The 2 chickens for £4 in Tesco helped too also shopping in Lidl and Aldi a bit especially for salad and veg. I have still got meat in the freezer that I haven't used yet. May be the OS penny is finally dropping!
So pasta for tea with smoked sausage. Hopefully leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
Have a good afternoon all.

just back from shops to pick up the bits I needed and got a reduced steak pie too
and 4 wispas have to hide them!
£38.70 left now will do my next main shop on Sat which will take me into October's budget so I will need a few bits before Sat but think I can do it!!!0 -
Well, first online order just received from Mr Ts - actually quite impressed, a couple of substitutions but sensible ones so OK:D.
We've only got small supermarkets round here but both the Mr T and Mr A deliveries come from "town" and the big stores have much more choice (eg the biggest bag of potatoes in the store here is 2.5kg and I got a 5kg one cheaper).
I may well think about doing a big monthly shop and get it delivered to take advantage of this - the delivery cost is about what I'd pay to get to the local small stores so seems like a win/win.
That brings me to £136.18 - however DM did get me some milk etc the other day (can't get out due to op) so think I'll owe her around £10 (she forgot the bill!).
To be on the safe side going to declare at £150 / £175 which is a ridiculous amount for one person!
However, there was a fair bit of cat food in the Mr T's order (was on offer) which I usually separate out.... and also a lot of store cupboard staples which will last a fairly long time.
Budget for October has been reduced to a more sensible (I hope) £100 so fingers crossed I can do this!
I can't see me ever being able to get down really low as my milk spend is around £30 / month alone:(.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

My Veg box and the extra's arrived today.
A free 400g wholemeal organic bread Yipee!
I had ordered Cheese, cheese selection(for lunch box), 2 large yoghurts, and the veggies them selves, are Bananas, Carrots, Chard, courgettes, windsor apples, punnet grapes, sante potatoes and white onions. Total including the 99p delivery fee £22.01
Only spend I will need as far as I am aware is milk before the end of the month, as I forgot to pick any up. Better update my totals. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi, I am declaring at £398 for September. It was well under my target but I have had no kitchen for 2 of the weeks and lived off ready meals. I am going to be spending more in October as I need to restock my cupboards and freezers and I am having a Halloween party at the end of the month.:)0

You still did better than me (I'm a singleton too!)
On the milk front, I've switched to Value skimmed UHT at 49p a litre - works out much cheaper because I would often waste fresh milk as I'd have a craving for milk to drink and get loads in, then not drink as much as I had been doing... you know the score! UHT is great, I haven't noticed any difference in taste.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
