That's my problem too - I can have xxx number of something but if I see it on offer somewhere, I still buy more :(

Nearly blown it - went to aldi and spent a very respectable £21 on deli bits, bread, milk, reduced steak, fruit and veg and other stuff that I did need. However i also needed some squeezy yogs and cat litter from asda and came out £30 lighter!! Did get a big pork joint that I have cut into meal sized pieces for stir frying etc, some reduced lamb and roast beef and reduced fruit too as well as a huge bag of cat litter and slippers for dd! 8 meals worth of meat stashed in the freezer for next month though so its all good!

Have a tenner left for some petrol then its all gone til fri

No food shooping again for me as still spending most of the week at my Brothers but have spent a small fortune on travelling and the odd treat for my Brotherand SIL.

They are off to Ireland next week so should be home for two weeks and have loads to use up.

So am declaring under food budget ,rainy day fund seriously depleted.

Managed to keep to my NSD yesterday despite taking DS1 shopping:)

Today will be another NSD, Jacket potatoes for tea with cheese, beans and hm coleslaw, then hm apple crumble for pudding and I have everything in. I have physio today so that will help as I could not manage trecking around the shops after that!

I am determind to squeeze in 2 more NSD's before the end of the month to round it up to 20 and just 3 days left to get them in.
Tomorrow will be roast chicken, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, butternut squash, cauliflower and broccoli and Thursday is hm pizza, Friday will be something out of the freezer, so should only need milk at the most before the end of the month:)

Looks like I may actually make it this month! I am out of bin bags but have decided to either borrow one off MIL or buy some at local shop where I won't be tempted to buy more stuff. I keep thinking of things I 'need' but actually can easily substitute and have challenged myself not to shop for another few days. Will see how that goes!

  • Sheepishly declaring at £341.31 for September.:o

Actually it is not as bad as it looks since I only went over after buying a case of wine and a box of beers for a party which was since cancelled so they are now all sat in the garage waiting for Christmas!!!

I have found weekly meal planning and shopping is working for me so going to stick with it. Sausage pasta planned for tea.

    Well done everybody for September.

    February Grocery Challenge £301.46/300
To feed - Me, DH, DD, DS and 1 dog

  • Okay am going ahead and declaring at a whopping £255.78, an overspend of £55.78:eek:. Where did I go wrong this month?? Not even drinking as much wine:o.

A definite NSD today as am making do with what's in. Have a rice pudding in the slow cooker which will be yummy and warming since it's miserable and raining here and will have either a can of beans and sausages or a packet of microwave lentil dahl that was left over from DD's DofE expedition with baked potatoes. Was going to make cauliflower cheese but have no cheese in and I am refusing to visit the shops so will do the cauli that needs using up tomorrow either in a veggie curry or in a potato and veggie bake with a jar of ready made sauce lurking in the back of my cupboard.

I PROMISE to try much harder next month to keep on budget and not be tempted to veer off my menu plan:o. We just keep craving meaty meals atm and haven't got stocks in the freezer as DD went veggie for a while. Fair to say she is no longer:D.
