please help me- 695.00 taken from my bank/paypal unauthorised!

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me as paypal aren't. Yesterday i logged on to my internet banking to see that £695.00 had been paid to someone via my paypal account. I immediately opened up a dispute with paypal and rang them. They said they thought my account had been hacked and they would check and refund my money.
Today they closed the dispute and said there is no evidence of fraud.
The thing is, i don't think it's fraud, i think it's their error, as another transaction i made that day is not showing on my account at all.

What on earth do i do now? I'm in no position to lose this amount of money, can anyone help me please?

What was that? Could you have been conned into revealing login info which was then used to take money from your Paypal account?

That was a deposit paid to Shiply.com for a courier for an ebay item collection. I don't know, maybe I guess.

I'm just beside myself with worry now, as paypal have closed my dispute and refuse to help any further.

Probably not a phishing scam then, unless you responded to a fake email. How are you feeding your Paypal account? If the money's transferred from another account, I'd contact the bank/CC company to cancel the card and dispute the transaction and trigger a chargeback.

Are you able to contact Shiply to confirm the amount they have taken?

If a payment has been made which is not what you authorised, then contact the bank who funds the transaction source and instruct them it is an unauthorised withdrawal, you can do this 24/7 with some banks.
Paypal, well they just dont care, because they can afford not to...

It is worrying that paypal do not consider any fraud has taken place, that must mean that their checks suggest the same IP and log in details were used to make payment.

Is there any one at all, evenm unlikely who migh tknow your log in, or have you by any chance used a PC at a public place like a library or internet cafe?

As above though I would certainly be checkign with Shipley as it seems odd that their payment hasn't gone through.

When you check the payment that has been made where does it go, what do the transaction details say. Lastly, has it come from your paypal balance or is it going to be funded by a bank transfer in to cover?

I've just re-checked everything now that I've calmed down and realised i paid Shiply from my other paypal account, so this is an out and out fraud it would seem.......
  • Through PayPal you should be able to see who the payment went to. If it doesnt show tell them you want to know
