  • Met the careeers advisor person yesterday - the first step towards my new career. Two days of career 'counselling' to go and lots of homework! Ooh. Psycometric tests and all that stuff - I wonder what it will show? Hmmm.
Very skint now and two weekends to go - one of which involves a night out. Gulp.
Another load of stuff to ebay today and just transferred £45 from paypal so I'm hoping to scrape by. Again.
Last month of debts repayments next month which feels just great - then I'm a debt free gal! :j
    May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin! :)
    March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j
  • DDs child trust fund account's statement came throght. 1.1% interest - rubbish.
Going to see if I can find a better one. I'd move it to an CISA but you're not allowed which it annoying as they get better rates. At this rate she'll only have £6K in it by the time she's 18!! Its just birthday money - but thats still lousy. Must try to save more when the new job gets going........

Ebaying continues. Brio trainset is next to go................;)

  • Its my usual fed-up stage of the month. Payday approaches but its tight from now.
On the plus side - christmas is nearly covered so thats a weight off.
Doing my careers homework - start my psycometric tests today - gulp. Hope I have a few skills in there.
Dreading doing CVs- don't know why but I just hate doing them. Need to work up a cracking one though.
Part time from christmas is something to look forward to though - fed up sitting here with nothing to do. No work = a long day!
Should get my mortgage update in Dec. That'll be good. Should start with a £28(K) but not sure exactly where. The £5K I have coming to me in Oct - which was going towards the mortgage may end up being used if I don't get a job - so I need to make sure I get something. Don't need to earn much but I need something coming in. Don't want to use those savings - too hard to save so I don't want to use it up!! Will have £2800 saved by Christmas - then it really gathers speed as debts gone. I've come a long way in a year!:j

  • Ooh this is a tough month. Shopping done and payday not till middle of next week but I'm supposed to be going out for dinner tonight!!
It's a groupon so will probably be about £20 - but its £20 I don't have. Hate going overdrawn but I've no option. Curses.

Can't wait till payday - so excited about making my last EVER debt payments!! I'll never have them again - because I'm never moving house again. Simples! :D

Go over to my diary, they're all legless on there :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Ha - ladies - I too overindulged this weekend. I did go out and overdid it somewhat........:o Hey ho - gotta be done sometimes eh?
Half days careers chat tomorrow - I wonder what that will involve. Psycometric tests done and ready.
Just paid off my last debts yippee!! :j
As from next month I'll be putting away £700 - £1000 pm in savings to see me through. Worked out that DDs child benefit covers almost exactly all her activities so I can discount them from my calcs for my impending life of poverty!

Thrifty - thanks for that and I hope you're doing OK? What have you put in that cleared out garage of yours?

  • Hi DS,
Hope the careers half-day proves to be useful for you.
    MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.
  • Thanks MRN.
Careers lady was really good - interesting to find out my psycometric test results and what they mean. So far I can see I'm in the right line of work - but not the right job so I've got more homework to do and another half day before we home in on where to apply - what to aim for etc. Glad I'm doing this as it'll stop me looking at stuff I'm not really cut out for and also that all my uni days weren't completely wasted!!

Spreadsheets looking good. All that money used for debt etc can now go to savings so its a whopping £1k next month. By the time I leave I'll have £4.2k savings with a 'absolute emergency' back-up of £1.6k - nearly my £6k target so I'll try and better that.
That's 6 months basically if I have zero income. Even a part time job will make a massive difference to that. My mortgage / bills etc come to £411 per month before food and petrol so as far as tightening belts go - I'd be hard pushed to better that.
Yup - feels good and if I've got all the careers chat over by Xmas - its full-on CV/ job applications in the new year. Excited!

  • After nearly 4 years of frugal living - especially the last two, I hadn't realised how much I have changed. I visited friends at the weekend who spend everything they get. Card and other debts but all is managed OK and a fairly large but not bonkers mortgage. They get money - and they spend it - no savings. Now he is loosing his job. Still they haven't had their LBM. I wonder when it will hit? Or if it will?
What fascinates me most is the spending. Its almost compulsive on ornaments - really frivolous stuff. I used to be like that - maybe not so bad. Just really interesting how my attitude has changed.
Anyhooo. Tough month again after all the bills are paid. If I'm really good I will get a dander round the January sales though - some urgently needed clothes! There's an incentive to stay in the black.
More ebaying to be done today. zzzzzzzzz
