That's really kind cathy - thanks for that. Can't believe I'm an inspiration to anyone these days but I guess I'm living proof that you can get through anything - eventually!!
The ebay frenzy starts again.
Spent the holiday clearing out cupboards and clothes I don't wear - I now have 3 enormous bags of stuff for ebaying. A duanting task but I'll just tackle it one bag at at time. Royal Mail will do well this quarter.........;) Charity shops did well too - quite nice to declutter and what a lot I had!
Moving from a 6 bedroom house to a two bedroom house fairly shows you what you've collected. And most of it it junk. Why do we keep it eh?
May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
A bit of activity on ebay and gumtree - all a bit tedious but it'll be worth it in the end - for decluttering reasons if nothing else.
The reality of joblessness is starting to hit home - on one hand I'm looking forward to a bit of time - full time working and single mum status don't give much space in life. But no income of course. Savings will last me 6 months. Gulp.
Can't really apply for benefits till I go so I just have to hope....
Mortgage statement not arrived but I called and I'm at £28,500. With the £5,500 I have coming in Sept I would have got it to £23K which was my target for now but of course I may now need that money to help keep me afloat if no job comes along. I'll still make wee OPs though whatever the circumstances - if at all possible.
Applying for jobs - no responses yet. Sigh.
Oh yes - and the lottery is a waste of time. Knew that of course!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

The good news about being self employed is that I saw this coming a couple of years ago - hence the downsizing / debt paying off/saving.
A lesson learned there about keeping a savings pot! Phew.
Time to look at the jobs pages again......ho hum.May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Less focused on OPs these days than getting a job etc. Keeping up with my OP schedule though.
Savings pot at 3K and adding a whopping £850 in Feb. Just hoping I don't use it all until I get a job but if its there I'll feel a lot better.
If I do get a job - its getting kept in its ISA for the future.
Its fab having no debt. My available money goes on saving and in the future it'll be into a pension pot - how ever I decide to do that. Hoping to get a job with a decent pension scheme of course!
Doing prep for my interview next week. :eek:May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Another meeting with my business partners today - more doom and redundancies no doubt. Can't wait to get away from all this negativity. Being out of work is pretty negative too of course - but there is at least the potential to move on rather than stagnating in here which is what I've done for about 4 years now. Cursed recession.
Still got a good lump in my business capital but very hard to see what will be left when I go. If there was enough I'd be tempted to pay off my mortgage all together - and that is a possibility - and would save me £227 in outgoings a month. If its not quite enough there maybe isn't any gain in paying it off - better to live off it and still OP perhaps. I'll worry when I know the final figures.
Obviously I wouldn't get benefits if I got a lump sum of any significance but I could reduce my outgoings but the largest of my bills. Worth the peace of mind I recon.
Of course - if I get a decent sum out AND get this job, I'll be mortgage free and earning. Now there's a thought! Pension gets priority obviously but I had always wanted to build that wee extension...............which would need a new mortgage of course.....;)May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
