  • The cable between the invertor and the CU will come under the regs and if you have buried the cable or run it under floors and it does not comply to regulations 522.6.5 and 522.6.6, then that cable will have to have additional protection by an RCd to reg 415.1.1

The RCD in the installation will ensure that the disconnection times are met.
    Thanks,

  • Im glad I read this forum, currently wanting to change my broadband and had been thinking of going with TT, as after checking this site it seemed to be best value BB and phone. But now I am not so sure.
I am currently with o2 broadband and am quite happy with them, have not had any major problems with them, the problem is I had to sign up with BT line rental to get o2, I barely make a call within a 3 month period (well just the odd essential daytime one here and there) and my bill for this period is nearly £50 mainly line rental and the admin fee they charge. I have just recently become unemployed and am trying to reduce my monthly outgoings, and am so disgusted with BT, they are so expensive, they dont even offer me any call deals.
It seems like if you get a good broadband deal then you pay for it with line rental and if line rental is good quality then the broadband appears not to be up to scratch.

I mainly use a mobile so dont really need a landline if only broadband was possible without the added phone line, not sure now where to get my broadband from, any recommendations very much appreciated, thanks

    etc etc
I am with Talk Talk (previously Tiscali) and I am 90% happy with them. I have line rental and broadband and pay approx £21 per month (sorry, can't remember exact figure). My landline I use approx once every 2 weeks for a call. My package is free evening and weekend calls, but the reason I stay with them is because it also includes free international calls (select countries). At weekends I can call family and friends in America and Canada free.
Broadband signal and connection is good in my area and until they change the package I intend to stay with them.

My parents have talk talk and have found their customer services truely useless.. every time they had to phone them they had a different story of when they will be connected. They were with freedom2surf that talk talk took over and wanted to change to a phone and broad band package. they were told it would take a few hours to change over but were cut off for a month and then had to start the connection from scratch so that took another few weeks! It was always a foreign sounding person who couldn't speak great english or couldn't understand us!

on the other side of things they were great when I changed over to their phone and bb package, also as a freedom2surf customer. Our internet was off for maybe an hour and had been working great ever since! Luck of the draw I guess! (Glad I did mine first or I would be with another provider as i wouldn't be able to cope without internet for 6 weeks!)

    Hi All,

i will look to address some of the individual points raised here, however as previously advised the TT Members forum allows us to manage issues via individual threads, whereby specific and direct responses can be given, we can also give full account support, something we cannot do via some third party sites.

GuysDad - The Customer Service teams should be able to support any queries directed to them. The TT Members Forum is offered as additional support, just as email is offered in addition to phone and phone in addition to letter, this is just a natural progress of increasing contact method to improve accessibility of support to our customers. As such where customers are active on internet forums we offer an internet forum to manage their issues. For customer who phone us we handle matter via the telephone. This method of matching contact types is common place as replying to phone calls via email or forum threads via letter may be confusing and inconsistent to the originating contact type.

Piggo - Although the Tech Support Teams may have limitations on the type of routers they are able to support (i.e TalkTalk Supplied routers) the TalkTalk Members forum will still offer support for non TT supplied routers where we can. Initially with any potential faults ruling out equipment by testing an alternative on the line is the first stages.

Mistyme - As my presence is in terms of support we do not offer sales advice via MSE, only account and service support. the best service for you is one which addresses and covers your needs at what you deem to be a suitable cost.

Atticgirl - TalkTalk Plus is the Anytime package offered by TalkTalk. Full details of this can be found in the Package Pricing Guides on the TT Website.

Nickyt - I can only apologise if your issues were not able to be resolved prior to you changing supplier. I am surprised the CEO's office were not able to resolve your issue for you, however im glad to hear you did eventually have your services restored.

Al1x - this does demonstrate that the advice given to your parents was accurate should everything have happened as it supposed t, clearly there was some mistake in processing all the relevant orders and for this we can now only apologise.

    Regards

We have tried several routers on our line and it makes no difference at all. We emailed then phoned the proper technical support call centre who no longer will help. We didn't try the forum because after emailing TT we were told to phone them - there was never any mention of a forum, although obviously we do now know about it. No-one has ever addressed the issue that TT is waiting to increase capacity on our exchange and whether this in fact is the problem.

    Hi Piggo,

In which case, if no one has addressed that specific issue, we can look into this once your registered on the forum, advising if this is genuinely the cause.
