  • I bought eightpacks of AA priced at £21. Put them through first on the SS, came up with £14 discount, so running total was £7. Next item was detergent (£1.60), but running total went up to £8.60. Sheepishly told assistant I didn't want the batteries and she cancelled the whole shop so I could start afresh.
Now I'm being told that the further discount is only applied at the end. Where does the OP state this? I've read several accounts of success but nobody has mentioned this!
So, does this account for the reports of some stores complying and others not?
And when exactly is the extra discount applied; when you press 'finish'? when you've swiped your Clubcard? When you are asked to pay?
I've not thanked anyone in this thread (apart from Boba Fettish) as I am so annoyed.
Probably shouldn't get too upset by the post of a newbie, this is possibly the best glitch since the days of DTD!!

If the glitch does work in your store you need to buy in multiples of six to take full advantage, not eight as you seem to have tried. Some discount does come off as you are going along, but I think from memory, most of it comes off when you press finish and go to pay. I can't confirm this 100% as my heart was beating quite fast at the time and all I could think about was trying to get all the batteries scanned and into my bag before anyone noticed a crazy man buying 18 packs at the self scan!

I bought some yesterday but they were just B1G2free which was fine anyway because that's still a big discount.

Calm down, it either works in your store or doesn't, so no point getting upset or annoyed :). The op did say when they checked their receipt, which does mean the discount is applied post-checkout (though admittedly it does take the £7 off as you are going through, which threw me as well as I had other multibuy items that did not process until check out - go figure the mysteries of Tesco IT systems!). Once you buy 3 or more the offer will or will not kick in when you check out (which has been mentioned af various points on this thread).

It didn't work in my store either.

Promotions always come off at end of shop when on ss you press finish or a manned checkout presses sub total! This has always been the way!

    Kernel Sanders calm down love!
The OP 's job is to report the glitch which is a fantastic find and we ate extremely grateful, please don't slate him/her did not giving a step by step guide in how to get a glitch, that comes with practice and getting to know the rest of us and following the thread , you will learn from other people's experiences and mistakes also
It's not all about reading the OP only.

Just a tip before you slate me, when going through the SS till no need to sweat that the SS assistant will see anything until........the critical moment is when you press the finish and pay button, this is when all discounts come off and the silly price you are left to pay is visible to all. I carefully assess what the SA is doing while putting through my last few items then go for it when she is busy helping someone else , have some money ready in your pocket of your hand

If the glitch doesn't work simple say you forgot your purse look very sheepish and say you'll come back later but they can put your shopping back. HTH

Ps can any early birds confirm if glitch is working today?

Am working today after 3 blissful weeks off , am sooooo cheesed off forgive my short temper this morning!

And another thing, once you have hit the Finish and Pay button in self-service, there doesn't seem to be any way of adding more items to your shop (or the SA didn't know how to in my store anyway, fortunately as it happens as I would otherwise have ended up with another 12 packs on b1g2f only and spent another £14 on "free" batteries that I don't currently need and weren't on the special deal!)

Note to self and others, don't put through these deals with your main shop as you cannot tell (unless you have kept a running total of your shop in your head) if it has worked until you check your receipt. And pressing subtotal (which you would think would help) only adds a sub-total to the receipt, it doesn't show in screen.

I knew it should be possible but three SAs couldn't tell me (we tried that button and it still gave an error when we tried scanning another item). Probably just a problem with that till then.
