  • mysteriously sel has disappeared along with the batteries at serpent+ne green. could anyone advise me the finish date please. thankyou.
  • I bought eightpacks of AA priced at £21. Put them through first on the SS, came up with £14 discount, so running total was £7. Next item was detergent (£1.60), but running total went up to £8.60. Sheepishly told assistant I didn't want the batteries and she cancelled the whole shop so I could start afresh.
Now I'm being told that the further discount is only applied at the end. Where does the OP state this? I've read several accounts of success but nobody has mentioned this!
So, does this account for the reports of some stores complying and others not?
And when exactly is the extra discount applied; when you press 'finish'? when you've swiped your Clubcard? When you are asked to pay?
I've not thanked anyone in this thread (apart from Boba Fettish) as I am so annoyed.

Not only do you not get the second discount 'till you press finish, it's also not marked on your receipt as a discount on batteries. Well, it wasn't on mine anyway, and I'm assuming it's the same for everyone.

I bought 6 packs of AA (along with my weekly shop) The first discount on my reciept was Batteries 2 free- £14, I then had other multi buy discounts added, fairy, cat food etc, and then BUY 1 GET ONE FREE -£10.50 it didn't say what for, and I initially didn't think the glitch had worked. However, it was definitely a second discount on the batteries. We use a lot of AA batteries in this household, so I was happy to pay the £7 if it didn't work.
  • I haven't bought any batteries yet because up until just now I still couldn't get my head around how people were getting the batteries for free. I read the initial plus other a few times but still didn't get it. Yesterday I read some more posts and even went into Mr T to see if it would become clear but it didn't, so I left them. Now after reading a couple more posts today and someone has explained that it appears to work when you buy in multiples of 3 (it may have been said before but I didn't pick up on it), I finally get it!!!

So for me, I find that sometimes I have to read lots of posts over a couple of days before the penny drops on how they work, and thankfully if the glitch is on long enough, I still get to take advantage of it.

Thanks to everyone who posts their findings and experience. It really does help those of us who are fairly new to this lark!
    Virgin CC £1,738.84 Barclays O/D £32,012.24
Total debt £33,751.08 as at 2.1.13
Short term goal - pay off Virgin CC by end of Jan 2013:eek:

Don't ever be afraid to ask if you're not getting something. Sometimes you need a basic understanding of how the glitches work in general to be able to 'get' one in particular. I've always found that, as long as I've read up on it, and I'm not just expecting someone to trawl through the posts on my behalf, that people are very willing to help.

Practice make perfect too, so here's to many more Tesco glitches :)

Kernel, sometimes it is just best to see things through till the end, knowing you can get a refund! I took 12 packs back yesterday as I committed to buying them to see if it worked at a store. If in doubt, return the item later, so the till staff don't think your being funny, especially with Batteries, which are highly stolen items!

I was quite shocked when I did this that it was knocking the money off for the batteries as I went, as normally offers at Tesco come off at the end, when everything is totalled up.

I'm surprised that you didn't think it would come off as an offer at the end, like pretty much every BOGOFF/ 2 for £3 style offer does at Tesco.

Did not work for me this morning at 08:20 in same store as last night. Restocked, but only giving B1G2F, so got 6 packs for £7. I'm happy with what I got though
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.
  • Is it working for anyone today? I hope it carries on :)
Anyone had any luck near Sunbury at all? It didn't work there when I tried it yesterday morning but thought it might work somewhere nearby. Did someone say it worked in Brooklands tesco?

For Kernel Sanders, Glitches are trial and error sometimes. Their is no point in getting annoyed, because trust me it has happened for us all at some point where we have got caught out and the glitch doesnt go according to plan. It's a learning curve with glitches, and this is how we all learn. The OP shouldnt have to state that the discount comes off at the end as this is something most of us are aware of.So you have learnt now that savings always come off at the end for next time;)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

Just got back from Yeovil Extra store. Tried 3 packs of AA first with the new Orla Kiely bag and both B1G2F and BOGOF kicked in so just paid £4.00 for the bag. So went back around and got 24 packs of AA and AAA total £84.00 but then B1G2F discount £56.00 and £42.00 B1G1F so £14.00 towards my other shopping. Seems to be £1.75 back for every 3 packs you buy.
Also got some of the Fairy Glitch although the shelf was actually marked. Bought some batteries at 2 stores last night and only got B1G2F. Some of the batteries are AAA so I will swop them tommorow for more AA'S.
Such Fun as Miranda's Mum would say.

Glad you got them ,but did you still get your fish and chips dinner:)
