17-Year Old Insurance Impossible???

Hi guys i passed my test about a week ago and i am looking to get a car, This is easy and i have found a car which i'm interested in but when i came to fill in the required information for insurance the quotes came out at £3,200  or more and in most cases this is for only 10 months not the full 12. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas that could possibly lower this quote
What i have done is:
-Put my mum and sister on which lowered it by £1000 (was £4000)
-Said i'm in full time education
-Only going to drive 5000 miles
-I have tried the car boxes and they come back at £3500 and i have tried pretty much all the insurance search engines
I was thinking about going to see a insurance broker to see if they could do a deal.
Should i try and put my car in a multicar policy like admiral etc?
My parents are with a insurance company should we ring them and tell them i am looking for insurance to see if they can do a deal for a existing customer?
Any responses or help would be greatly appreciated i feel so annoyed that i have to pay 3x my cars price just to drive for 1 year.

Try adrian flux. They are pretty good on young drivers.
Do not lie about your circumstances. That is just putting off a world of trouble.Any responses or help would be greatly appreciated i feel so annoyed that i have to pay 3x my cars price just to drive for 1 year.
The price of your car is not the issue. Its the price of the car and cost of compensation to the person/people you are more likely to injure or kill in the early years of your driving. Remember its statistics. It doesnt mean you will do that. It means more 17 years olds in your area are going to do it than say 30 year olds.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Be careful about a parent naming themselves as the main driver - i think its called fronting...and its illegal. You also want to be sure that you are earning no claims points - can you do this on a joint policy? and of course if you do need to claim at any point, it might affect your parent's premiums in future so if you do go jointly with them these are things you might want to think about...0

thanks for the fast responses i haven't lied on my insurance quote and i will be the main driver and it will be my policy my parents are aware of fronting and do not want to do it alot of people my age do it and don't realise its illegal i will give Adrian flux a go see what they can quote me.0

I think it might be the "said I'm in full time education" that's worried people. If you actually are in full time education, there's no problem - but if you're just saying that you are, you could be in for all sorts of trouble.0

I know it is hard, but if I had that kind of bill, I would just wait a few years.....0

I agree it did sound a bit like you were trying all sorts to get it cheaper in your original post! I thought car insurance was bad when I started driving but now it is just crazy prices and I can fully understand your pain. Please please however tempted you may be to put something on the application that itsnt true to be able to get the cost down, just don’t! The actual term for this is obtaining a pecuniary advantage its a deception offence which is criminal and means you can be arrested and prosecuted in a criminal court.Thefinch94 wrote: »thanks for the fast responses i haven't lied on my insurance quote and i will be the main driver and it will be my policy my parents are aware of fronting and do not want to do it alot of people my age do it and don't realise its illegal i will give Adrian flux a go see what they can quote me.
The amount you have said for insurance is massive, is that at fully comp? You could go for a lower level of cover (3rd party) but there are clear drawbacks with this. It may just be that the car itself is in a very high insurance group so you could look at getting a car with a lower insurance group. Its a total pain but it does get better as you get older you may just have to drive rubbish cars for a bit!

Also have a look at your postcode and check to see what risk it represents. It may not matter much what car you get if you are in a high risk area - at least that's how it appears for me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Definately important....
Also, I believe it falls at 18, not by much though.
Do you really need the car? If you're studying can you bike/use a bus? That is a ludicrous amount to pay.Wise man once say "When in hole, don't dig"0 -
this figure is pretty industry standard norm now
ive lost a large portion of my business due to these insurance figures for kids under 21
plus college fees now also come into the equation
plus 1 in 5 are out of work
basically OP there isnt much you can do other than find the £60 a week insurance figure,of course if you can find one with the tracker you might shave a bit off and going to a broker would be a good move0
