How good is the 3D? I am thinking about getting one soon and would value your opinion.

We have been looking since last Christmas. We looked at Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. I was more impressed than hubby and would have had one last year, but when we were away this weekend, we saw the LG Cinema 3DTV, which uses the standard 3D glasses that you get in cinema's and not the large bulky interactive glasses that other companies use. We were actually quite impressed and you get seven pairs of glasses, they only cost about 99p anyway whereas some of the interactive glasses are £120 a pair.
There are only two of us at home but I suppose anyone with kids who wanted to sit down to watch a 3D film, then seven pairs of glasses is a bonus.
If you subscribe to Sky HD and you have the whole package you get the 3D channel included (you have to pay for certain films though).
We didn't have 'Movie channels' but they upgraded us and we kept the same monthly payment, just need the TV now!!
The other feature on the TV (and the other makes) is 2D to 3D, which mimics 3D and is quite impressive.
I am not an expert and these are just my views and preference.

One thing about passive vs active glasses. If you're just sitting in front of the tv dead on, I don't think it'll make too much difference, but when a few people get watching, and youre around a TV, passive glasses start to falter. They're very positional, and I've always found with passive 3d, if I tip my head (i have neck problems so sitting upright can be difficult) the 3d effect is lost, but with active glasses you can be anywhere and they work fine.

It is good value though, to get seven pairs. At work the other week we found a package of those glasses from our display models and, because we were bored, split the glasses between the team. Oddly, the customers seemed to enjoy being served by people in brightly coloured glasses lol.

The 'cable' was an hdmi for 3DTV, recommended by the salesman at RS. He showed us two, can't remember the name of the £40 one but the £80  one he showed us was a 'Cambridge Gold'. We didn't buy either because we didn't buy a TV. The cable we will probably buy off the internet for about £15.

That'd be a 1.4 HDMI cable. they're capable of streaming two 1080p images to the tv for best quality 3d. A 1.3 cable will only send two 720 images to the TV, giving you lower quality 3D. I'm not sure if it makes much difference with passive 3D, though, but it is a noticably shallower picture (to me) if you use a 1.3 cable for active 3d.

Of course, this is only an issue if you're watching a 3D blu ray though, rather than sky, which does lower res side by side 3d.

I offered him the same price as Currys were asking, if he included the cable. So all he would have been giving me was, the TV package for the same price as Currys and a 'free' cable that probably costs RS a tenner wholesale (if that).

I am still not a happy bunny.:(

it might cost a tenner wholesale but they sell them for £40, it's unreasonable to expect them to give it away for free. From what I can tell the salesman was more than reasonable - offering you £10 off when they didn't have to seems pretty good to me.

Just a tip: Stop putting replies to a thread that have nothing to do with the OP's issue - it's really annoying!

exactamundo. Where currys pretend it's new stock when it's a faulty return. Nothing that's returned to currys a faulty ever goes back the manufacturer. They just pop it back on the shelf in the warehouse and pass it off to the next unsuspecting customer. They're well-known for doing it.

I have never had cause to use their warranty but the price is amazing especially when you can send the policy back when it expires and get a refund if you haven't used it:):)

As far as price-matching, they have been very good on matching prices when I've asked them.

When I had a warranty repair on an amplifier, RS paid the car park charge and my petrol too :)
That's why I have bought 2 tellies and a bluray player from them since :D

 I am so annoyed at Richersounds, after always recommending them on this forum, I have had the pleasure of visiting them today.
Armed with the latest Currys price, I travelled 30mile round trip to Richersounds in Leeds to buy (and yes I mean Buy, not look) an LG 3D TV, paid £3.50 to park and I was offered the princely sum of £10 discount.
I know I should have checked before I travelled but as Richersounds have always been a lot cheaper in the past (I have bought lots of items and recommended them to family and friends), I didn't expect the TV in question to be exactly the same price as Currys. Because it's not listed on their website and being a Bank Holiday, I expected the phones to be busy (hindsight is a wonderful thing).
Since I have got home I have found out that if I order the TV from Currys online and have it delivered free, I can actually get another 5% off, making the TV Blu ray deal £900.60 as opposed to Richersounds £939 to collect.
So should I be able to get the deal at Richersounds (who claim to beat shops and internet prices)? No Way :(

So they offered you a lower price than Currys despite the fact no price match was necessary and you still weren't happy? I that basically your complaint or am I missing something?

I think your being unreasonable to be honest. They don't HAVE to be the cheapest store around and you should consider the fact they've given you a discount in the past as a bonus not a right. If you weren't happy with the service thats another issue entirely and you don't have to buy if your not happy with what they're offering but I don't think you've a right to complain about it.
