I just wanted to redress that I have always found in the past that RS have the best deals, I have used them since their shop was on the Headrow. They also, usually have the best service, so I was so disappointed today that I didn't come out with a better deal than the big sheds (and would have liked to have come home with a telly).
The salesman couldn't care less, and as for not doing a deal on a cable.
When we bought our sons surround sound system (amplifier and speakers) last year, the Manager opened the box and put a cable (s) in FOC, so I automatically assumed a cable could be a deal breaker.

I'd rather pay Richer Sounds a tenner more than spend my money in Currys. At least at Richer Sounds you're more likely to get a brand-new and properly working product in the box rather than the faulty returns Currys constantly recycles.0

this. it's still £10 in your pocket.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
companies only have so much profit/margin to work on
when I bought my last TV from RS (502 plasma
It was a bit more than online but they cut the price a bit and I wanted a bit more piece of mind given the faff involved if i had to return a 50" screen0 -

I'd have thought it the other way round, now we've finally binned those Hitachi TVs. RS often sell graded/openbox stock.
EDIT: Should add that they make it clear if it's non-pristine stock!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Exactamundo. Where Currys pretend it's new stock when it's a faulty return. Nothing that's returned to Currys a faulty ever goes back the manufacturer. They just pop it back on the shelf in the warehouse and pass it off to the next unsuspecting customer. They're well-known for doing it.0

Armed with the latest Currys price,
Since I have got home I have found out that if I order the TV from Currys online and have it delivered free, I can actually get another 5% off, making the TV Blu ray deal £900.60 as opposed to Richersounds £939 to collect.
You answered your own rant. You didn't go with the latest price as you only bothered to check when you got home.
So from what you've said; you went to Richersounds and they beat Currys price. If you didn't take the right price in, you've only yourself to blame, you can't expect Richersounds to go and search the internet for prices to beat.
and what cable did you buy for £40?0 -
How good is the 3D? I am thinking about getting one soon and would value your opinion.0

and what cable did you buy for £40?
I didn't have the price of the TV because my hubby changed the spec/model (as hubbys do), while we were shopping. So instead of shopping for the lower spec model (which was cheaper at RS because I'd done my research), he decided he wanted the top of the range which isn't listed on RS website?
So after researching a particular model for two nights (at hubbys request) and being armed with prices for the 'wrong' model, we set off shopping. I presumed (wrongly) that RS would have been more competitive.
The 'cable' was an hdmi for 3DTV, recommended by the salesman at RS. He showed us two, can't remember the name of the £40 one but the £80  one he showed us was a 'Cambridge Gold'. We didn't buy either because we didn't buy a TV. The cable we will probably buy off the internet for about £15.
I offered him the same price as Currys were asking, if he included the cable. So all he would have been giving me was, the TV package for the same price as Currys and a 'free' cable that probably costs RS a tenner wholesale (if that).
I am still not a happy bunny.:(

For the sake of a few quid i'm surprised they didn't do the deal tbh.
Was there a chance the salesmen was more limited on offering freebies and discounts since you say it was the manager who did it last year?0
