i would say that your probably better trying the canaries, i just got back from tenerife and its £13.80 for 200 regal cigarettes. And you can fly there with Thomson fly quite cheaply
Trophies are like Buses, you wait 26 years.
Then 3 come along at once!!!!

I think that you are restricted in what you bring back from the Canaries.

The Customs rules are turning into a bit of a shambles now.

In the 'old days' - 200 fags and a bottle of booze. Along comes the EU - unlimited (unless you've got a Transit van full).

Now:- EU is unlimited, but Canaries and Channel Islands are not part of EU.
Cyprus is in the EU, but goods from parts of it are treated as non-EU.
Many of the 'new' EU states from Eastern Europe still have the 'old' limits applying to them.

So much for free movement of goods within the EU !

Would suggest you look carefully at the HMRC website for the country you are thinking of visiting.
  • We went to Bulgaria a couple of years ago (when I was still smoking) and couldn't believe how cheap everything was. Cigs were 30p a pack!! Not English brands, mind you, but at that price if you didn't like the ones you'd just bought...it didn't matter.
Probably not as cheap now they have joined the EU.
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!

Unless they are for your own personal consumption, you MUST pay duty. Bringing them in and selling them is a criminal offence.

And you can't bring them in from Latvia (nor Poland) either: these countries are excluded because their tobacco duties are too low.

So if I were to bring some in for my partner, that would not be allowed?

We usually go to Girona on Ryanair - the flight times allow a day return from Stansted for 25-30 quid and cigs are cheap - can't remember exact prices though - sorry!

    Hi

Does it have to be April? If you look at the Flightchecker you can get to Reus (Salou) in March for about £15 return flying out on a Friday and returning Saturday. April flights are a lot more expensive.

The limit on cigarettes from the Canaries is 200 as I found out when stopped at Customs in September !! The limit from mainland Spain is 3,200 per person.
