Meat in a box delivered?

Update: Finally have some space in the freezer, so have placed a meat order at Laverstoke Park - http://www.laverstokeparkbutchersshop.co.uk/acatalog/index.html - will report back on what it is like....got a buffalo rib-eye steak, wild boar belly slices and some of the Hebridean lamb, as well as beef and pork and some sausages. They have a site for school kids here which gives pictures of the farm and info on how the animals are raised: http://lpec.virtualschools.net/folders/learning_zone/ks3_and_ks4/organic_pigs.cfm
Will try some of the others in the future to compare - Jimmys Farm, Pipers Farm (who answered my query email within about 20 minutes even though it was 10pm!) and Well Hung Meat who have been recommended a few times on this forum: http://www.wellhungmeat.com/"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I buy a monthly organic/free range meat box from the lovely folks at the farm that does springwatch. (just over £100)
2 x 2kg Prime organic roasting joint
4 organic beef steaks (approx 1kg)
4 Packs of Organic lean minced beef 500g each
3 Packs of award winning pork sausages
2 Packs of award winning dricured bacon
2 Pack of chops or steaks (approx 500g each)
A surprise, something seasonal 1kg
Now the box is a mix of pork and beef with some venison when in season and would last a family of 4 for a month. We are a family of 6.- Though looking at the one beef joint, we could get a roast plust 2 or 3 leftover pies out of it.
- The second joint was slightly smaller but could still do 2 good meals
- The 4 x 500g mince beef all got made into 3 large cottage pies with veg.
- The beef skirt, easy that's a casserole or curry
- The pork steaks, done with chips, should be enough for 2 meals
- The bacon, well, mixed into a cheese and potato pie, that should be another 2 meals.
- The venison, pot roast venison
- Beef steaks, well there is enough for a beef pie, some cornish style pasties, and probably a casserole with some veg padding
- The sausases, toad in the hole, sausage casserole
I will have to order more meat, but I am going for a chicken, lamb, goat and mutton selection, but all in all, £200 on organic/free range meat for a month for 6 people, delivered to my door is great. As before I was spending nearly £30 a week on supermarket meat which was fairly flavourless and looked anaemic and our local butchers just....eeew don't go there. Plus where else can you get mutton and goat these days?
No doubt with the extra £100 it will last me more than a month so I can start laying in a store in the deep freeze.
So I have found a decent meat supplier, a veg supplier and all I need now is a fish supplier. That will be the local Dan the fish man!The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

We went half with friends on this one. It was on Ebay and the meat was beautiful. It arrived in a special mailing coolbox and was all bagged up and labelled ready to freeze.
Here is the link:

Sounds nice but a little expensive I think for us aswell. PP thanks for the link, will have a look. I had a bit of bad experience last time with goodness direct with home delivered meat boxes (non was fit to be eaten) so have been sticking with the local farm shop (all free range)One day I might be more organised...........

It is a bit pricey, but the meat is 3 weeks hung, most of the meat is either organic and/or free range. but the 100 included delivery, it came in a polystyrene box within a cardboard box covered will a chiller gel pack which are reusable btw. Also going to reuse the polysterene box. I ordered the large box, they also do a small and a medium and various other meat boxes. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Similar to how the delivery I got was sent, but that was half frozen half not, it was supposed to be fresh, they said just freeze it, it'll be fine, erm nope when it was defrosted it stank! Kind of puts me off risking it with another company. Saying that I can't moan having such a good farm shop near by, most of the prices per kilo are actually cheaper than the likes of Tescos, even the sirloin is cheaper than the value stuff and the quality is amazing. All but the lamb comes from the farm, the farmer is the butcher (hence he only opens 2 days a week), lamb comes from the one near by (3 weeks hung should be done anyway, but many 'supermarket' meats etc are not)One day I might be more organised...........
