  • I have just done some overtime from home and made probably about £20 after tax which is cool. Also, after fighting with NRAM for over a year about our mortgage(mixed messages, one department says one thing, another says another - yada yada, told we're not paying enough, told we're paying too much) we have been told we are paying too much!!! Again... I do wish different departments would talk to eachother a bit. Still is a beautiful day and I am not going to let it get me down...I am just getting used to the various acronyms on the forum and may seem stupid but could someone tell me what LBM is?

    Many thanks

    Hi Natterjack

well done on your great shops. I would only include the actual money if you are actually able to take it out and save it/use to pay debt/bills.

With me if I use printable coupons to save money, I don't count the money saved unless I can actually physically take the money out of my account and use it to pay bills/debts, etc.

Most of the time I cannot afford to do this, and using the coupons is just a bonus to help buy stuff or reduce my shopping bill.

Yep I can afford to take money out to pay debts etc off, especially after selling my car and tax credits backpayment going in! :) So i'm going to include and pay a bit of a debt off :) Thank you for reply

Light Bulb Moment - it took me a while to figure that one out! It is when people stop hiding their heads in the sand and decide to start taking ownership of their debts and work to repaying them off. Or contact the creditors to organise payments.
  • On a couple of days leave and off to a flying start - Mrs Wild Rover reminded me that I had an unspent Amazon voucher - I promptly sold it to her for £20 cash! Result!! She will use it to buy something she would have bought anyway.

Also, postie just been - confirmation of new monthly direct debit for gas and electricity - even though they raised their prices just after I switched, which I probably wouldn't have done unless I heard Martin on a rant on the radio, still £27 per month less than I was paying:beer:!

I am counting this from next month though as it comes into effect from 1 October but could I have a "ruling" from an experienced monthly challenger!? As it is a monthly saving ....... can I include the £27 against the monthly target every month until the DD changes? I know it is "up to me" but I want to be consistent with others. I don't want to "cheat!"

    Good luck everyone!

I would say again if you can use this money to offset bills/debt/put into savings, etc, I would count it.

The challenge is to make £10 a day to help us with our bills/debt/deposits for houses/savings/etc.

So if you can physically use the money I would go for it.
  • My first contribution of the month; just picked up a big bag of printed cotton pieces from a freecycler. Probably about £15 worth but, having just read the above, my rule is that I'm only going to count this as I use it - so, I'm currently cutting circles from it to put on top of jars of chutney, jam etc, which I'm taking out my stores and making up into a gift hamper for my friend's birthday this weekend. If I cut some nice fabric and tie it with string and a homemade label it all looks a bit less like something I found in the cupboard. :rotfl:I probably would have spent about £1.50 on scraps from the fabric shop, so I'm counting that as money in my purse.

No idea if that makes the slightest bit of sense to anyone else? :o:rotfl:
