  • You can report a change of circumstances for Carers allowance here...
    http://www.dwp.gov.uk/carersallowance/
I think there's an option for saying you are caring for a different person on it, I hope you get it sorted quickly.
  • thankyou Mikazaru..will check it out now.Really appreciate that xxx Why couldn't the guy on the phone tell me that??:mad:
Having one of those days where it feels like the world is against you and my usual feistiness is beiong squashed by pregnancy hormones!:p

That's weird Northerntrish..do you think your social worker appealed on your behalf?I really hope you do knock on your MPs door and get the help you need hun.Who knows..maybe your appeal will be sucessful without you even knowing you'd lodged one!
I'm waiting to hear what the reconsideration says but if it doesn't go well then my MP will have to face a hormonal hysterical heavily pregnant woman..lucky him huh lol ;)
I just want this all to stop..to be sorted and to get back to caring for my kids with a clear head..enjoy getting ready for christmas and bumps arrival instead of stressing :(:(:(

    Hi hun

Yes I can understand ALL of those feelings!!

No, no one can put an appeal in (which has to be in writing) without my signature. Otherwise you could have Tom, !!!!!!, Harry & Doris sending in appeals willy nilly!

OOOOoo I feel better this afternoon, you would be surprised what 50mg of Morphine and 40mg of Citalopram does for the mind, body and soul!

    Good luck
    X

Sounds like you're having some bizarre experiences... could it be a reconsideration (rather than appeal as their system says) that has been triggered without request in writing... perhaps in a phone call saying you disagreed with their decision? The only other thing I can think is someone has appealed on your behalf claiming authority to do so. Having said all that you've nothing to lose probably.. even if you didn't attend tribunal.. asked for a paper based appeal... there's some chance of better award. But they must have details of how appeal was instigated.. mind you this is the DWP... more double o zero than 007.

The reference to 11 weeks will be for their (automatic - if appeal requested) reconsideration.... probably it would take less time especially if no new evidence.

  • Got two of the dreaded DWP brown envelopes land on the mat this morning..was thinking and hoping it was good news but nope. One was acknowledging my request for a reconsideration and the second informed me that the wouldn't be looking at the claim again till 27th sept to give me a chance to submit more evidence. So there you go..me reiterating the whole darn lot has been fruitless and I'm going to have to pin down people to write me some reports.Anone under docs/paeds etc knows how hard it is to track them down so the chasing will be fun!

To really rub salt into the wounds DD has been rotten the past three days..a wheezing, retching, coughing and tired little girl either on the sofa or in bed...seeing the letter telling me she has no additional night needs whilst on night three of draining her stomach contents with a syringe from her feeding tube after her second nebuliser of the night at 4am doesn't sit well with me :p
    So the saga continues......

Bumpmakesfour please consider going to the press. Either the Mirror or the Guardian are the best ones as they dont benefit bash. Because this treatment of you and your lovely daughter and the way its affecting the rest of the family is beyond a !!!!ing joke now. Im angry on your behalf. Its just not good enough and i note that the letters have arrived on a Saturday. Seems to be a common occurance.

I agree and the Mirror hates the new government. Maybe Bumpmakesfour doesn't want the publicity but more then likely the Media will shame the Government into paying you what you and your family need.

Can anyone help please? At the end of my tether and the tears won't stop.I just spoke to carers allowance customer service and the man on there was so mean and horrible to me I just couldn't understand what he was telling me.Statred crying so had to get off the phone :o
As my daughters DLA is under reconsideration her carers will stop right? Her award ends on 30 sept(her bday~nice present thanks DWP) but as I have a second child on HRC I asked how I move the carers payments over to him.I need to know how we can do it so we lose as little money as possible. We'll already be hundreds down from her award reduction,we have to now pay each month to extend the car lease from motability whilst they sort it and it is stressing me out to the point of feeling absolutely depressed thinking about it all now.Once her HRC has ended I'm guessing we'll lose tax credits too as I'll have to inform them.So we're faced with christmas, bday new baby, having to pay for a car whilst losing lots of cash..all absolutely unforeseen and as a result we have no buffer.I'm droning on..so upset.
I was trying to ask him what dates I put on the new claim..to try to speed it up.As in if DDs award ends on 30/9 do I put new claim from 1/10/? but he was horrible and just kept repeating himself with a point I clearly didn't understand. So does anyone know what to do? The thought of losing carers on top of everything else would top it all off..all this because the DM at DWP couldn't read.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I thought you said you would be okay without any financial help? If this isn't the case then you need to get in contact with the CAB who will have some contacts to help you with your claims. I'd also look at supplementing your income by earning yourself somehow, unfortunately benefits aren't something you can rely on your whole life these days.

The OP is a full-time carer of a a severely disabled child. She works 24/7. How is she supposed to supplement her income? I find your post quite patronising given the OPs circumstances.

A nightmare because we'll have a bit less money coming in?? No way! I'd find ways to cut back, ways to make more money but they could take every penny of DLA off us and I'd still have everything I care about and need right here

Repeating something the OP posted cannot be seen as offensive no matter how patronising you feel it is.
