Anubis I saw the school report..they backed up everything I said..then the medical report was literally bullet pointed stating all her diagnoses and current medications.I added extra things like her care plan,CAF etc to back up her care needs. Will go find out who my local MP is now just in case.Tx again for the input everyone it really is very much appreciated xx

What I'm objecting to is my daughter being refused something that under current regulations she definately qualifies for and that does enable me to stay home.

As you know, that is how I feel and probably many more besides.

I've had to learn to accept that qualifying for something is not the same as being granted it.

You sound a very strong person, and have the ability to fight on.

And like you have said before, being a good actor and just knowing the right things to say seems to get you along more than just being honest, quiet and accepting as I am.

I wonder how many more in this country are not being given what that are entitled to and qualify for? It makes me sad and angry to think that, but if I allow my emotions to get the better of me, I know where I will end up! And it's not a very nice place.
  • Doggle have you spoken to any agencies to try to get help with your claim?I'm really sorry you can't face a fight right now :(

I'm waiting to see what they say on tues..will ask what the criteria is for higher rate care..then ask them to look at my form showing very clearly the care given in minutes, then see what they say.I'm so curious to listen to them try to justify the decision!

I might sound strong but have honestly not slept since I got the letter on friday..a mixture of anger, disbelief and depression over having to go over and over things that are hard enough to do first time round  And stupidly enough even if they reconsider I'll still be angry at them for putting us through the stress when it's bloomin obvious my daughter needs lots of care..gahhhh.I'm sure there are thousands of people in a similar situation out there and tbh I now realise how lucky we are to have just had straight forward renewals/fresh claims every time so far!(trying to find a positive to all this! lol)

That's what I keep on trying to do - find the positive in everything even though I can't see it.

I look at others who are a lot worse off then me. I see them in doorways at night with nothing more to wear thsn what they stand up in.
I see really good fathers who are tragically killed by drink drivers or those with no licences who do a runner. I see families torn apart through drug and alcohol addiction.

I have a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in, there is not much more that I need. I would like more, but who wouldn't? Maybe a family of my own? Maybe a wife who could be my best friend as well? Too old now, and I'm now too selfish I think.

PS. No I haven't seen any agencies, I don't see the point in it really. I never have the intention to appeal, for reasons alreday mentioned, and for filling out the forms, I am honest and put down exactly how I feel and what I am capable/ not capable of. Nobody knows me better then myself.
  • I think you have a good attitude there really Doggle and who knows..Mrs Right could still be round the corner x I feel the same in many ways...I AM lucky. So when I see someone like paddlejohn up there ^^^ tell me our lives with a new baby and the kids we have already will be a nightmare?? Well he couldn't be more wrong!A nightmare because we'll have a bit less money coming in?? No way! I'd find ways to cut back, ways to make more money but they could take every penny of DLA off us and I'd still have everything I care about and need right here

bumpmakesfour, have you thought of talking to your MP about this? I believe some people have been helped by doing that. (Sorry not to have thought of that earlier.)
