Nano Lite 4GB MP3 player

  • I sadly purchased this Nanolite Groupon offer in November as a Christmas present for my daughter.... why oh why didn't i do some research before hand, when will i ever learn?!! I'll tell you why because we assume that a trusted company like Groupon do vet these companies and their products, obviously not though and I will never buy a product through Groupon again unless i research it before.

When the product arrived i knew straight away that it was really poor quality build and as soon as I saw the menu system on the screen I knew it was one of those cheap chinese manufactured items, cos I've had one before.... but this wasn't sold to us as one... £80 original cost, my !!!!!!

I got some files onto it ok and then when i came to listen to it, there was only sound coming out of one speaker... was it the headphones i thought? I doubt it, but i'll try another pair anyway, surprise surprise they did the same thing, so now I had a faulty, low quality product and it was only one week before Christmas, marvellous I thought.

So, I contacted BoxNetwork via their online support and I had a response immediately explaining the process of return and refund. I would get the postage back direct from them but would have to claim the product cost from Groupon. So, i rang Groupon and they were very helpful explaining that I would need to get confirmation from Boxnetwork that they had received it back, then I would receive the refund from Groupon. I posted it back via Recorded/Signed for and it was received at the destination on the 28th of December.

Since the new year, I have tried to contact BoxNetwork on numerous occasions via email, their on line support system and by telephone and I have had no response and no answer... I fear the worst! They are obviously a dodgy outfit, there are so many of them out there these days. They will respond to some people just to ensure they get some positive feedback but most they will just rip off!

I rang Groupon to explain and although their initial response was that they need the confirmation email from BoxNetwork that they have received it back, they did then say that they MIGHT accept my proof of postage and a screenshot of the post office tracking website which confirms that the package was received the other end.

I shall let you know how I get on but all I can say is STAY AWAY from this product and company. On the whole, Groupon is great, but on this occasion they have got it wrong.
  • Yep wish we had also researched them - we got took in by the 2 item deal through groupon thinking they would make great christmas presents. One broke on first use on christmas morning - the play button got dislodged and couldnt be fixed - 4 contact forms later and still no reply - no answer on the phone either!

2nd one broke in the same fashion today. Cheaply made rubbish - the whole set up is a scam.

My wife was given one of these kits as a "Secret Santa" pressie this year - have just spent an hour trying to get the car adapter to work - miserable failure!! MP3 player is working (so far),but very fiddly -headphones are rubbish - speaker is a bit better than I expected ...Looks like its a dead duck getting any money back unless we can find out who bought it for her!!
  • To add to existing posts - I have just received a Groupon deal for this MP3 player which was first ordered beginning of November. I had asked for money back in January as had given up hope - was to go to management panel and would be advised as stated already paid money to Box network. However it has been delivered now but all instructions are in French. Grrr! Wish I had seen this Forum before buying. I will try it out now but with little hope. Second disappointment from Groupon deals in as many months. Never again.
  • 3 December 2011 -Ordered 2 of the MP3 players, hoping they would come before Christmas. My twins have been asking for ages....

5 January 2012 - emailed to ask about the order, got a response: sorry delay due to high demand, order on it's way. - Ok, belated Christmas present is better than Christmas present! Will go with that...

7 February 2012 - emailed to cancel the order and request a refund due to it being faaaaar to late to be a Christmas present or even a belated Christmas present, got a response: do not worry item will be with you soon. -what??? do you actually read emails mr Nanolite?

16 February 2012 - only ONE of the items received recorded delivery and that's after I asked to cancel the order. - Hmm..Obviously not, not only you would not have wasted recorded postage fee to send it to me - now you will have to refund the return postage too!

17 February 2012 - Sent an email with the request of the return address to send the part of the order back, since the order was cancelled and refund requested berofe even the money back guarantee had to be mentioned.

23 February 2012 - got a response. Wait for it...word for word quote: "Thanks for confirming in receiving the first item the second item should be on your way you should receive the item early next week the latest. Please contact me if you do not your item by then" - Mr Nanolite, you are so proud of your product that you think I MUST have it, no matter what the cost is ... Let me guess, you will pay recorded postage to send to me the unwanted item and then pay me to send it back?
...luckily Groupon is on the case...:T
  • Iordered one of these items via Groupon - very disappointed - didn't work! Sent back recorded delivery - but had to contact Groupon to step in - which they did and money for item refunded - however, I had to chase for the £4.95 postage (just been paid into account) with no email to inform me this was going to happen. After emailing copy of the receipt from post office - even though they'd told me I didn't need to send copy of reciept with item - I am now awaiting this refund. Diabolical. 01215153515 - is direct number. Good luck!

  • Of course - the one that you are expecting could be faulty and so you'll be entitled to a complete refund - but you need to send the item back recorded delivery, and send a copy of the post office receipt.!!

I wonder how many people give up. Lots I imagine

Update - my wife was given one of these as "secret Santa" pressie - we still use the speaker with her netbook - but the player has got more and more unreliable, frequently coming up as "empty" on connecting to PC; now it won't even switch on - what a heap of garbage!!!
