6.8km last night, 5.7km tonight. Hating every second of it but still going strong.
Was going to give a whole load of stuff to charity tonight but there might be a few quid of sales in there. Need to get over my Ebay block and move on with my life.
Time for a cup of tea and some Xbox methinks.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Mr Bloater,
I don't come to this forum very often any longer but do read your diary from time to time. One thing that I've noticed is that you keep everything rather large. Your debt, for instance - have you thought of breaking it down a bit and targeting smaller amounts.
I know it did help us (and we did pay £100K in three years). It just feels good when you see you are getting somewhere. An idea, that is all.

MrB. How about simply listing the contents of the shed of doom as one large joblot on ebay?.

Totally lost my way these last few days - the dragging feeling at work is making everything seem like it's in slo-mo. Running has also been abandoned - no excuses - just not been in the mood for it. Could happily have drunk a bottle of wine on the walk home from the shop with a bottle of wine. Nothing's wrong - I'm actually in a happy place and the family are doing well - all presents paid for and bills met for another month. Sadly I think I need to be close to the edge before I get galvanised into action. I haven't even got much to put on a list, and even what I can put on there I can quite reasonably argue against.
- Put some more stuff on Kindle - what's the point? If it was going to earn meagbucks it would have done so by now, if it's not going to earn megabucks then why the heck bother?
- Do some exercise - yeah but wine is way more relaxing. I just go round in circles with it anyway - lose a whole bunch of weight then have a slight setback and forget about it for a few weeks, then lose the weight I have put back on again and then have a slight setback and ..... (repeat ad nauseum)
- Clear (by any means necessary) the crud from the shed - but Baby it's cold outside, the boxes of crud in the shed are not blocking my way anymore and it's not like I have anything else to put in there to replace it - a mancave ain't gonna happen til the weather improves, and even then I'm sure Mrs B or the kids will find something to put in there.
So there, dead heat. Not even sure why I'm still keeping this diary up - I've gone to the brink and come back again, I have spells of taking Moneysaving and Exercise seriously but essentially I am just chasing my tail. I'm boring myself even writing this stuff down so apologies to any remaining viewers.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

I'm not the only one losing my way then, I think it's the time of the year. Cold, dark and expensive.
But don't give up, keep going, it's not the big things we do, but a million little ones, that make the difference in the long run.
And don't be too hard on your self, you're doing great.

You don't have to loose your way; just sit down and think about the way in which you do things. I can make several point here (and this all comes from experience and struggle):
1) Debt payment. You tend to look BIG - the number is big and you didn't break it down; the intention of increasing income is big and some comes some doesn't; and your splurges when you fall off the wagon are big.
May consider: Break down the debt and pay off bits, celebrate very time you pay off a chunk; build many sustainable small income streams - writing is a versatile tool use it to do it; cut the splurges but have fun regularly and budget for it.
2) Kindle texts. Self publishing is great but...the noise is immense. What have you done so that your texts stand out? How are you marketing them? People are not just going to discover you and it is not you - people don't just come across something they love by chance any longer. This is life of much choice and much noise.
Elsewhere I said that I believe that any one can win the Game of Wealth; only thing is they have to be smart enough to learn and act. That is all.
I believe you can do it - after all I did. I paid off the enormous debt in three years; now we are working towards financial independence in five years time. Because we developed smart money management habits (and yes, these include loads of budgeted for fun) and created a number of sustainable income sources; and we are growing these.
Don't give up! Get some excitement in your life again. And I've told you before what kind of writing always pays. Can you do that? (I know I can't.
Okay, time to stop. It is your call, but it feels so good when the debt is gone.

Thank goodness It's not just me. I had my lightbulb moment in September and was 100% committed to shifting the debt but over the past month or so I've fallen off the MSE wagon and due to lack of money, bad planning and a couple of unforeseen household plumbing expenses have used my credit card several times. Keep going Mr B, this is just a temporary blip that will pass on the way to better times.
Bet xWorrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0 -

So good to hear from you Firewalker. Such wise words as ever.
Mr Bloater,
I have been where you are. In fact I might be there now. Can't exactly tell. bills are paid, Christmas is sort of sorted. Car has been expensive, vets expensive. My debt has been paid off before, I am just over 4 grand in debt and considering borrowing more for a car. This year the debt has gone down but not quick enough.
This thought does depress me and like you I kinda go through the motions. My debt is going down but my extras, my second job -that remains, but surveys....nope.......e bay hell no! cutting back......sometimes.............. it is a bit hit and miss but generally even if my heart isn't in it, it is better on balance to keep acting as if, keep posting, budgeting, making plans, do what I can when I have time as this makes the debt go down. And when I am up for doing it properly then the debt will go down quicker.
It's the end of term. just keep acting as if.
xxNevertheless she persisted.0
