301k in debt and morbidly obese - things aren't great!

Two bottles of red (£3 and £4 respectively before you say) down and I somehow still find myself back here. In regard to the previous post I think I've always tried to deal with things slightly differently - I could throw my arms in the air and go into panic mode but that just ain't my style. The debt is large but it is manageable. I can't let it be the biggest part of my life, that is reserved for my family. Keeping them happy and secure is my first aim, paying off the monkey on my back is secondary. But I will pat myself on the back for coming back here again tonight. Maybe I am taking it more seriously than ever before.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Not sure what happened last night. I appeared to turn into a Goth. Normal service resumed. Managed an astounding 1.2km this morning! All the Christmas decorations are up and so it's time to get festive. And fix the toilet. But plumbing aside, I am in a way better place than I was this time last year and I need to remember that.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Have spent the last 2 days reading all your diary.. I think hubby got a bit worried when I kept sniggering to myself.. Very much in the same situation with debt and diet.. Lets hope we can get this kicked up the bottom.. Have a great weekend x0

Hi Mr B! Love the diary, although I confess I'm not as diligent as turkolina and didn't manage the whole lot. Well done on the weight loss as well as everything else! My fiance is also trying to lose weight, so I appreciate the challenges.. He ran his first 5k the other day though and is pleased as punch.

The debt is large but it is manageable.
And there you have it, the happier present situation.
The panic was on when your previous job was lost and you couldn't manage the debt.....and yet as we all followed we saw that you did manage, then went crazy in the summer adding to the total, then got back on top of it.....and that's why we follow0 -
Am atop the Alpha Male Scale due to having dismantled the flushing mechanism of a closed coupled WC, adapted and fitted a bespoke diaphragm and reassembled the whole thing to working condition in exactly an hour. It now flushes like Niagara Falls. Saved myself a few quid (was quoted £70 labour) and feel like I am not a trapped rabbit in the headlights of all things DIY-able.
Plus I done 6km this morning. Managed to do 69km in November, am plotting to bust the 100km mark this month.
Plus, and do all hold your breath here - I did something very DFW. I joined YouGov. Yay me! Am looking forward to doing endless surveys and never quite getting to that 50quid target. But it all helps keep the lights on at the end of the tunnel.
Off for an early night after I've researched how to fix a mixer tap, rewire a porch light, lay decking and board out a loft.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

So you got the plastic bag on then;). Fixing a toilet is an awesome thing. Coal bags are good . I still pat our toilet on the head I am so proud of repairing it :rotfl::rotfl:
Lurker for a long time. You paid of loads last year, but you have too much money for surveys. Your time is better spent making a plan, and a budget, and all those boring things .......

Well done, I still fondly remember when I turned off the water, cut off the old washing machine tap (it was leaking and couldn't be adjusted) and fitted a new one. 13 years later it's still going strong - and I still feel proud :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I once wired an immersion heater with the instruction manual in hand. So proud of that! Finally got my stroppy email of complaint to the car manufacturer sent off this afternoon and recieved back very quickly a fobbing off. Not sure how much further I can take this. It's all going a bit PPI. Which it appears I have no chance of getting any joy from. Thanks for nothing, Ombudsman. The only other things left on my moneymaking list are Kindle (boo) and Ebay (expletive).
On the plus side, got in the application for the exam writing position and used my Nectar card (not at the same time). Will try and squeeze a run in later.
Was in a rather upbeat mood til I started typing this. Now I am well grumpy. Hmm. Not the effect I usually get from posting on here. The remedy has become the poison or something else suitably profound.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)
