301k in debt and morbidly obese - things aren't great!

Cheer up Mr B, this is a marathon (sadly) not a sprint.
I always look forward to your posts but this needs to be for you not us. You've had it tough recently but if you can keep going when things are tough think how much better it wil be when things are on an even keel.0 -
That happens MrB, for most of us life is kinda ticking along ok and the debts only occasionally surface to remind us of the utter bloody nusiance they are.
I recommend (after various attempts and finally being sort of successful) picking one thing and doing that. ie one debt, one change until the debt has gone or the change has been established.
And don't be tempted to change it all over night. I think work conditions us to be a bit like that, of course you can change everything literally over night and be outstanding the next day........:) er no you can't one thing, one time and then the next one.
I also had a list of the things I could do guilt free once my debts had been paid off. That was quite motivating when I got sick of it all!
I too hated e bay and really only listed things when I was part of a challenge or "dared" to by an online friend. I have boxes in the shed that should be on e bay..................
have a good sunday. I really need to mark amongst other things!

I agree with Greenval. Has to be for you not us. But one of the first things I do when logging on is to look for a Bloater update. Your posts really cheer me up!
Here's hoping its just a temporary blip and normal(ish) service is resumed soon.0 -
Indeed. I felt much the same, and spent 18 months off this forum. However, during that time I basically undid all the good work I had done up until that time, and consequently I've put my Debt-free-day back by about 3 years :O(
One of the great things about this forum is the daily challenges, they keep you on track and remind you to log in every day to update others with how you're doing. This therefore acts as a gentle daily reminder to keep on-track with the debt-busting. I agree with the others that you might be tackling too much at once, how about picking one CC and throwing everything you've got at it?0 -
Uh-oh. Worrying signs afoot. Am just losing the drive for all of this malarky - the rebirth of the running suddenly stopped again, haven't weighed myself in days, haven't tried to pep up interest in my kindle releases and am just irritated by ebay, and as for this, well, posting on the forum used to be one of the first things I thought of upon waking, today it's taken me til 11.35 to even remember I'd forgot.
I've read your thread from the beginning and have noticed your waning enthusiasm over the past couple of weeks.
I became debt free a few months ago after years of being unhappy all I can say is keep going, the feeling when it's gone is almost indescribable.
One thing I can't remember reading in this thread is if you have any equity in your mortgage, if so can you not take some of this to pay off some unsecured debt, it's bound to be cheaper especially if you snowball and the payments saved could be used to repay the remaining unsecured debt off quicker?
Keep going and keep coming in here for the fabulous support and motivation.
Good luck.

Like everyone's said, its part of the journey - but you know what else, MrB - like when you mentioned about hopping onto other threads and noticing what whoopsies are, that sort of stuff - you might be sticking to your own thread too much - there genuinely are communities on this forum. The friendliest is where you've landed, the debt free wannabe board, but others are very friendly too, and you'll see the same faces on some of them as well. Without that interchange, there's nothing to it.
Or you might be someone who gets what they need from the forum in a short blast, and goes off and does their own thing - I don't think so, because you say your enthusiasm for *everything* is waning - but it is a genuine way of using the forum.
No one can do it but you. You and MrsB together, so good luck to you, and keep going - keep living your life, however you choose to live it (as long as you get debt free, of course)

Good catch, wishicouldaffordit - I skimmed that post.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I've started lurking on my own thread. Still I guess it's the best place to do it. Have a story about how I was outside in a dressing gown at 6pm this evening with my hand down a bin trying to retrieve my neighbour's gardener's overalls but I'll save it til I can work it into a run-related tale. Running and writing were the things keeping me sane and that's what I need to get back to. See you when I see you - thanks for the support. It's also time for my monthly debt totals so I have no excuse to stop posting.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

For you Mr B, a wee bit of motivation.
Nobody can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
