Thanks everyone your tips have been varied and useful.
I have tried the neat fairy liquid - top now hanging out to dry - hopefully sorted!!!
I think I've learnt my lesson - wear a pinny!!!! It brought back memories of when I was a child me and my two sisters always had to wear a pinny to eat our meals - even up to about age 11(mostly home made ones with lovely patterns - not!!!) I think I've had a complex since - however, it obviously is the better option out of ruining all my nice tops. I'll look for a nice plain one.

I wear one of those full length plastic coated aprons. A quick wipe with a dishcloth (hot water and fairy liq) and it's clean again.;)
When I'm on my travels, I usually spot them on sale in tourist shops. I buy them when I see them............because they're not widely available.
My current apron has London landmark buildings on it. My last apron depicted a kilt and sporran. My next apron (in storage) has a map of the London underground on it.:D
My clothes never get splattered when I'm cooking..................and if I'm eating a particularly nasty/difficult stain threat food like curry:eek: .........I wear the apron when I'm eating too.;)

Wet the stained area well and rub over with an old fashioned laundry soap bar, then wash as normal. This has removed all sort of other stains as well.0

DeSolvit spray for grease works for me - you can get it in wilkinson's for about £1.25 - works on the lower temp washes as well - I usually wash at 30CAll shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hi
Got a grease stain on my favourite top - any ideas have to get this out please??
ThanksNo Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Hi Julia,
If you rub some washing up liquid into the stain and then wash in the usual way it should get it out.
There's an earlier thread with more suggestions that may help so I'll add your post to it to keep the ideas together.

About 4 of my tops ( i know, i`m messy lol)have`nt come clean when i`ve washed them, it looks like grease spots  , i`ve noticed them when ironing. I`ve rubbed vanish soap into the marks and rewashed but is there any other good old remedies that you lot use

Hi nuttywoman,
I always rub a little neat washing up liquid into greasy stains then wash in the normal way and that usually does the trick.

I bought a t-shirt in the sale, then noticed a mark which looked like grease on the front. Could not be bothered to take it back as it was only three quid - would have cost more in petrol and parking.
I sprayed the stain with vanish and washed it, but it is still lurking there.
Any magic tips??0 -
Try squeezing some washing up liquid into the stain, give it a bit of a rub between your knuckles to really get it into the stain and then launder as usual.
The washing up liquid should break down the grease within the fibres.
Good Luck.
