    What if it were faulty?

It could easily develop an intermittent fault where it shuts down after a hour or so's use.

The OP would have to return it then.

    My husband does that.

Oh Fluffnutter, its a common problem with males.

It's called Buffer_Overflow, when copious amounts of useless information is dictated to the machine it can cause a overfill of the memory where the unit will shutdown in order to process the data, it will soon respond but some information such as "pick up the milk" or "remember to pickup your daughter from school" may be missing, there is no fix for this, some users have said shouting at the unit causes further issues down the road, while other users report saying the same thing over and over again causes the unit to forget more information.

In situations where a Memory_Loss occurs from Buffer_Overflow it is best to ignore the problem and do it yourself, or try and remind him next time he is supposed to do it that he forgot last time.

I researched touchpad right up until the day I bought it and the information alluded to services that are no longer available therefore it is no longer fit for the purpose it was bought for!
    What services no longer work?

Sure, you won't get any updates, and it's unlikely there will be any new apps - but no device guarantees future upgrades.

I'd be annoyed if I was in your position, but on the other hand if you really did do your research you'd see HP had already announced the price drops in the US, and their discontinuation of the WebOS platform several days before it was officially announced in the UK.

    When did you buy?

From what I recall previously reading this thread, HP made US announcement on the Friday, OP had bought on the Thursday - i.e. the day before the US announcement.

Thank you thats right I was researching what the touchpad could do and was debating between that and the ipad. What I was researching was what it could do and not the latest news. I bought on Thursday and on the Friday I searched for tips on what I could do with it and came accross the news that had just been announced. Honestly I dont have £429 to play with and wouldnt risk buying something just to get some of the money back. I genuinely thought I was buying £429 worth of kit. Now I am worried that its not worth that and wont do what I bought it for.
