    The time to make all the necessary decisions is before you loan money to a relative. It is a very high risk because if there is a failure to pay the money back you are unlikely to take them to court. You must only loan money in these circumstances that you can afford to write off because you may well have to.

    Be big about it. Don't learn from experience because she may want help again some day and being your daughter you may feel the need to lend more money. Before you loan more money be clear that it may not come back this second time also. Being a parent is a pain but in the words of the Bard .....whatya gonna do.

    Oh and if you really can't afford it explain that clearly and don't loan the money.

  • My parents (lol) took my car off me as they didnt like my new partner,leaving me stranded with 2 young children,felt nothing i could do as car was in fathers name but was given to me as a gift on my 35th birthday:(
