You picked the wrong course and subject matter.
You should change or quit, if you are not absorbing sponge like by now you should realise a change is needed.
As you say 200:1 ratio is too large for you. Pick a smaller course, more relevant to your onward path of life and smaller tutorials.
You are master of your destiny not a slave.0 -
It might be a temper tantrum but it is certainly pure frustration on my part that things have gone so wrong.:beer:0

OK, you are frustrated, you are unhappy with the current situation, you've stamped your feet and got it out of your system.
Now it's up to you to find an alternative path to attain your goal. So what are you going to do?When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -

At the moment to complete to July without going mad and without having a huge fall out with my lecturers are my goals now. I can manage that by picking a couple of modules I might enjoy for a start.:beer:0 -

Whats so huge about change? Why do you have to fulfill (and badly) this course. Give it up and move to a fresh place, its good for the soul let alone your heart.
Admit the failure in the short term and readdress your aims, goals and ultimately acheivement.0 -

Well that's a great start then, *you* can pick the modules *you* will enjoy, and that *you* think *you* can complete. Having your work 'ripped apart' or otherwise being unhappy with your lecturers is secondary to that. So concentrate on the things you can do and resist the temptation to blow the rest up into insurmountable problems. It's your learning that matters, not their teaching. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
If I am really honest I am frustrated with myself for thinking I could do this degree at all. I look at all my friends who I was at least equal in potential to and they are coming out of university with outstanding results and all because I was so stubborn to go to this uni that uni has given me poor results and made me hugely bitter and twisted.:beer:0

studentphil wrote:I am sorry but the books are so unreadable that is impossible to read for a degree and you do need teaching. I think I have been offered very little support at uni and so I think they have let me down to some degree.
The whole point of studying at undergraduate level is the assumption - not unreasonable in my opinion - that you are past the point of being spoon fed. Gaining a degree doesn't come easily to the majority of people, they have to work damn hard at it and that can mean 30-40 hours of homework a week, 8 hours class work a week, attending lectures not directly related to your subject, reading around the subject, soaking up radio and tv programmes and newspaper and magazine articles about your subject. talking to fellow students, joining societies relating to your subject...........oh, and for many this has to be fitted in around a part time job.
What most students who are 'struggling' with their course (ie the majority) do not do is waste hours and hours and hours on MSE looking for pity and sympathy and blaming everyone but themselves for their lack of effort. They sit themselves down with the most basic GCSE book they can find and master the subject from the bottom up.
If the course is beyond you, give up. If it isn't then start acting like an undergraduate and start putting some effort into it.0 -

Now you are just whining again. Your Uni hasn't 'given' you poor results, you did that yourself. Maybe that course/Uni/whatever wasn't the best choice for you and your learning style, but it was still your choice, and you can still say you've changed your mind and do something else instead. Or you can stay there and wade on through it, again it's your choice, but either way it's not the University's fault. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
so studentphil, what are you going to do about it?
The student Council is an excellent 1st stop, unless you have a dedicated mentor.
To carry on when its plainly giving you such pains when it can all so easily be changed seems a wasted opportunity.
Your contempories are obviously happy with their choice of course, there must be so many students that wished they had changed their path but are now also tied career wise too BECAUSE of the course.
Best Wishes Phil with the path ahead, glad you listened.0
