Now seen the rumours about the R&R coming to an end but is this official news yet or is it still rumours?
    To quote the Bard:

"Open your ears; for which of you will stop
The vent of hearing when loud Rumour speaks?
I, from the orient to the drooping west,
Making the wind my post-horse, still unfold
The acts commenced on this ball of earth:
Upon my tongues continual slanders ride,
The which in every language I pronounce,
Stuffing the ears of men with false reports."

sorry to ask what will undoubtedly be a stupid question, but what does SEL stand for? i assume it's something to do with the shelf price?

if the shelf price says one thing and the packet says a higher price, do they have to go by the shelf price?

see, i don't understand this post ... it was on the other thread ...

    Tesco Topside Beef roasting joint.

    Sel: £6.xx
    Scan: £5.xx

SEL removed from Bromley by Bow store London

    Full R&R for 3 joints totalling £26.34

so it actually scanned for LESS than the shelf price? how do you get R&R in that case?

    Confused!!!

    thank you.

Sorry that was my fault in trying to post it too quickly. The prices are the other way round
  • Hello guys,

Sorry if this question has been answered before.. Too many posts..So little time to read them all.

*IF* you think something is overcharged, lets say a DVD boxset at £39.99. And it goes through at £45.99. I understand you then go to Customer Services and you can get a refund and keep the product! Which is fine and dandy.

But, if I come on here and see a DVD boxset I don't really want, but do it anyway because it's FREE, but when I pay for it it actually goes through at the correct price, am I stuck with it?

Or can I get a refund anyway!?

LOL I sound tight but this is MSE so I'm in good company :rotfl:

or(as well as the 2 answes above).......you could just pay for it(so as not to draw attention to yourself), then take it back unopened with your receipt for a full refund within 28days.

If buying, music, software, games, dvds etc, always make sure theyre sealed when bought, if there isnt a sealed one, get CS to write on your receipt, "sold unsealed", as you may have problems returning it due to copyright laws(or so they say)

Ok, found the other thread!!!!!!! :o

As you might have guessed, I'm a bit of a novice! Can I just ask:

    a) There is quite a list of stuff, do you guys just make a list and search ALL these things out?

    b) How do you know what they scan at? Do you use (and probably know where everyone is in the store!) the self scanner thingys?

    c) Doesn't it take lots of time to do this? I shop once a wk and normally spend 2hrs (including travel and unpacking). I suppose I need to work out whether it is worth it to me? Guess there is a bit of a kick from finding playing the system and winning as well?

    d) How far back the list do you go - ie how quick are they at updating the prices?

I know I am a novice, but trying to learn from the best!

    Ok...

    a) It's up to you - big list or focus on the things that you are interested in - each to their own!

    b) Personally I use the self-scanner thing (Price Checker - do a search for my Guide to Price Checking) if it's available - some Dudes are paranoid about using these though - you can always see if the item scans low at the till - if it scans high change your mind or 'forget' your credit card.

    c) Like most things - the more you put in, the more you get out! It can be frustrating at first if you cannot find any mis-prices - but if you keep at it, you will start to find mis-prices faster and faster.

    d) It depends - sometimes items are wrong for literally months - sometimes items get corrected quickly. The latest round of XBOX 360s - people were finding these mis-priced for weeks - but the latest mis-priced CD of the Week (last week) was corrected centrally within a day -go figure....

    Good luck,

    Duder
