Me and my daughter use plastic microwave tubs from the poundshop to store our sets in the boxes, usually you get 8 for £1, They are great for keeping the sets complete and have the added bonus of stopping the boxes from getting squished flat also! And ikea do a set of tubs for about £3 of different sizes with 18 in total, great for smaller and larger sorts!
Oh and not sure if already posted but the book people have a great sale on at the moment, the character books are £3 each with a minifig and some of the brickmaster sets are only £8, plus free delivery if you spend £25!0 -
I got a couple of these for the small bits

So strange that you ask about storage. I put a post on Gumtree Friday night asking for storage solutions for my boys lego. I had great suggestion form one user which I brought from them. A 3 tier shelf unit complete with 16 plastic tubs, each tub can be taken out to be plaid with and put back when finished.
My son has lots of the city range, we store each set in its own plastic pot. Two or three pots will fit in each storage tub on the shelf. The plastic post are labeled with each set number and the booklets are kept in plastic pockets in a folder on his bookcase.
The larger sets, firesatiton, garage, police station etc. I will be keeping them separated in thier own tubs in a tiered storage system, off to dunelm or home bargains later this week.
The extra figures are in his large lego head.
I have spent last week checking each and every set for completeness. I am about halfway thought, my toddler isn't helping much either.
I really want a small lego brick for the tiny pieces, but neither of our Sainsburys stocked them so I couldn't get the deal.0 -
we've set my sons up on notice boards that cost £6.99 each we've made it up like a city by using felt to make roads and water so he can slide them out when he wants to use it, he then has a silver notice board for his batcave and joker funhouse, it looks fab. Then over my parents house he's got the train table from toysrus and he's taken the track off and hes got the passenger train and mining cave set up
got loads of boxes of bits aswell and drawers with bricks sorted into colours
got pics of the lego city if anyone need inspiration

P.s. Has anyone found a foolproof way of storing Lego? We have the Lego head which my kids found to be absolutely rubbish and they don't like the big Lego brick shaped storage boxes as the little bits get stuck in the edges of the bottom of the boxes. We just have so much of the stuff all in different containers and its still all over the house. Any tips from Lego fans?
Thank you for starting this sharing of ideas, I have really appreciate everybody who has contributed.
I discussed some of them with my family earlier and we are exploring better ways to store our lego, well theirs but I like to play :rotfl: ds then went off on a tangent on how when he is older and working for Lego what sets he would design for current and previous series to cover the gaps Lego have left, he is hoping his dream comes truevickynleon wrote: »got pics of the lego city if anyone need inspiration

Right click on any image, click properties, highlight image address by left clicking twice on the address, click on the insert icon (one that looks like it has a mountain on it), right click and then click paste, click OK.
If it isn't necessary, don't bother posting images though it does help some to decide whether to purchase or not.0 -
Anyone seen the lego creator beach house half price in a Tesco in Notts anywhere? If anyone does can you let me know please. I've tried the 2 nearest stores but could spend more in petrol driving round them all than I'm saving so if anyone see's one please let me know, thank you.
Might ring a couple of stores tomorrow
Love the idea's on storage, we are just starting with a collection for DS and was thinking of safe storage idea's. thanks everyone0
