Earlier today I found the Lego Creator Beach Hut for £17 odd in my local Tesco, Shettleston. My DS was with me and had a £15 gift card he had got for his birthday back in June so he got that set (with the other two quid paid by me). Normally it's £34 so I thought it was a very good deal as did my DS who loves all the Lego creator sets. There was only one left on the shelf after we got ours but there were other sets in different ranges reduced, not as big reductions though. My DS has a couple of the house sets and the marina so he was delighted to get this one as I didn't manage to get him it for Xmas.
P.s. Has anyone found a foolproof way of storing Lego? We have the Lego head which my kids found to be absolutely rubbish and they don't like the big Lego brick shaped storage boxes as the little bits get stuck in the edges of the bottom of the boxes. We just have so much of the stuff all in different containers and its still all over the house. Any tips from Lego fans?0 -

I'd like suggestions on this too please. Things like my daughter got the Monsters castle for christmas - once thats broken down there are so many tiny bits needed to make it back up again that if it went in the general box she'd take ages to find it again.
My SIL has her lego colour coded into boxes which I suspect works quite well.
At the moment I'm keeping the general bits and little sets like freebies from the newspaper separate from Friends and the other 2 big sets are made at the moment but def want some ideas on storage.0 -

No!! Colour-coded *looks* lovely but it actually completely impractical, as trying to find a 1x1 red plate in a boxful of red bricks takes ages; finding a 1x1 red plate in the box of 1x1 plates is much easier.
[STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] the children have a lotof Lego. We have it sorted into large clear boxes by theme: castle, space, Toy Story etc, plus The Big Tub of Lego which is everything City and 'other'. Inside each of those boxes are ice cream tubs for the figures/ accessories and for tiny pieces, which in my book is anything 2x1 or smaller.
For things like my Medieval Market Village and Winter Village sets (which are MINE) they live in bags back inside the boxes and do not get mixed up with the other Lego. Once they're disassembled they go back into the bags and back away, as I would be incandescent with rage if I lost any parts!
I'd look for a storage box for your daughter's castle, then if she gets any other Monster Fighter sets they could join that. Then she could have one for Friends and one for 'other', and then segregate further in a way which works for you within each box.

I store each box of lego in a ziplock bag with the instructions (the large bags from Ikea are ideal). My DS delves into his bags daily and makes one up and I spend about half an hour a day taking Lego apart. All the spares in Lego boxes are kept in a tupperware of 'spares' which if a lifesaver.30+ years working in banking0 -
I bought three of these for storing my sons lego collection, although I didnt pay that price for them, they were on offer at time of purchase. These are sold in lots of stores these days, various sizes and quite a reasonable price. We store by colour as my son finds it easier.

My son always liked to build his lego keeping it in sets as opposed to using all the bricks and building from the imagination. I always stored each set in a suitable box, often shoe box or similar. Clearly labelled on outside with set number and title. All instructions were stored in plastic A4 pocket sleeves in a ring binder. When he wanted to build he would look through the folder, choose which set to build, then look through the boxes and find the set by set number on the outside.
He is now 16 and all his lego is still stored in boxes with not a single piece missing or mislaid, sadly not played with anymore. The boxes it arrived in are all stored in the attic.0 -
my little boy like to have his models out in his room for playing with.
The batcave is currently living inside a normally unused cupboard in his cabin bed.
the others are all made up (in various played with states) on shelves. I got very told off yesterday when I dared to put a city firetruck with the forest ones!!!
there are a few boxes for bricks we find/ stand on/ minifigs etc which makes re-bulding easier.
we also have the 3 high storage things for colours (from hubbys collection).
booklets are all in a box.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
We have clear plastic underbed storage boxes, and other clear plastic boxes. Sets are mostly kept in the boxes intact but the boxes are themed (batman, star wars, spongebob etc) The boys will decide they want to play batman - so all the sets come out, broken bits get repaired, they get played with and then get put away again. My summer job a couple of years ago was rebuilding about 8 star wars sets from a box of star wars pieces. All the pieces were there though and as long as themes dont get mixed I find this works well.0
