Definitely do-able I reckon...I've started weekly meal planning which has been a revelation in terms of the grocery budget
Am also going to have a mooch around the coupon thread, see if I can conjour up some (almost) free stuff...am becoming a bit an MSE addict ! 'Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses' - Confucious0 -
Forgot I need petrol (tank empty) and a flea bomb as DS1 is being eaten alive. My sister recommended the Bob Martin one but the online reviews are rubbish. Can anyone else recommend?Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73

I really wouldn't recommend a flea bomb as the way to go, tbh. You need to vacate the room for a few hours and close it off completely too. Plus it only treats what it touches so while it would treat the carpets etc around the sofa it wouldn't treat under the sofa (imagine a shower of rain - it would wet your brolly but not you, see?)
Use any of the sprays or powders for upholstery to treat but these will only kill the live critters. Hoover, hoover and hoover again whilst still using the spray or powder every 3 - 4 days. Remember to empty the hoover straight away as they will escape! Fleas hatch in 7 day cycles so everytime you hoover you will be hoovering the live ones and the eggs - you should see an improvement pretty quick and be free in about 2 weeks.

Thanks Gillypep that's really useful. Poor DS1 suffers so badly from the bites (just finished a course of antibiotics where they got infected) and his room seems to be hopping.Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73

the only thing i've ever found to clear rooms of fleas is stayaway, it's expensive and you get if from the vets (i think), it stinks, but it does work, you do have to do it couple of times though and hoover a fair bit.0

If it's that bad you may need to get the room (and possibly house) treated professionally. As you are receiving WTC and have children you may be able to get this free from the council. You need to ring your local Environmental Health Office (not as scary as it sounds, and believe me, fleas are nothing to them) and explain the situation and see what they say.0 -
I didn't know that was an option - I thought you had to be in a council property - I'l give them a call! Thanks for that! Poor DS1 is really suffering and I just don't have any money to sort it out until payday. It only seems to be his room, or at least it is only him getting bitten but he is bitten all over

Had another trip to A&E today - this time to the eye hospital. DS1's headaches have been getting worse and worse since the accident and his mood swings more and more, well moody. It was a nightmare because they needed to examine the back of his eye which he has always had a phobia about. It was a really shaky start to the day full stop to be honest. I had to get him to A&E (probably about 3 or 4 miles away) with no money, no petrol and no change for parking. I eventually plucked up the courage to tell the ex-h who looked after DS3 (still off sick) AND gave me £20. I am quite sure that this will come back to bite me. I really want to believe that he acted responsibly and selflessly but experience has taught me that no matter how much I want to see the best in people he's always ready to pull the rug out from under me. The upshot is that DS3 is fine and back to school tomorrow. DS1 has the all clear but is suffering from severe headaches and will continue to do so for probably at least another week yet. He has a school trip tomorrow - i don't think he is ready to go back but he is determined not to miss it (he has a tendency to miss them due to illness). I have had 2 days off work so far this week. And to be honest I don't feel at all ready to go back tomorrow. I'm just not coping very well physically, mentally or emotionally with everything that is happening at the moment. I need to get my divorce finalised so i can straighten my finances out with some certainty and then maybe I can relax a bit and start taking care of myself a bit better. I bust one of my favourite skirts this morning because my bum has got so big! I thought well I'll make the time to go swimming this week, oh, no money. Ok, I'll start running, oh, no sports bra. I could do some hooping in the garden if the weather holds. And I can't stick to my fruit and veg which was helping because I don't have any!!!
Dagnamit, just remembered I let the chickens out. Hope they haven't trashed the garden!
Feeling a bit despondent about tonight - no kids but house a mess, no money to go out, see anybody or even have a drink. Could call the ex-bf but I know that he would come to my rescue and that doesn't seem very fair on him. I could channel some energy into crafting or ebay or somesuch but I don't have any energy!! Bah!
Maybe I'll take myself outside and give myself a good talking to!!Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73

Hi RSS
Re the no running bra. As a stop-gap, try wearing two bras, that worked for me before I got mine. Glad EOH came up with the wonga, and fingers crossed that there's no bite-back.
Hugs, Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Am feeling a bit cheerier because my friend who is a PT said that running is really bad for you (I think if you're overweight rather than generally but don't quote me!) and I should focus on walking so that is much more achievable at the moment.
My other friend, another single mum, bunged me a tenner today to look after her dog tomorrow. I've told her that I really, really don't want her to pay me and that I'm happy to have him but she insisted on the basis that she feels better about asking. I've said I'm always happy to be asked and that if a fiver every now and then makes her feel better I'll consider it a lovely surprise!
I have a bottle of wine, pint of milk and food for the cats
And, and, and!! *jumping up and down with excitement*!! I start fairy training next week!! Yip yip yippee!! I will be practising my face painting, hooping, juggling and very best stage voice
And, and, and... there's a very teeny tiny possibility, very teeny, tiny, getting a bit ahead of myself, but chance of training as a dyslexia specialist. Mustn't get too excited but would like to think that my luck might be on the turn. Please.Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73

(((Ruby)))
You have had so much go on recently and way before that as well.
It is understandable that you feel as though you are not coping.
I think you need time to grieve - not just for your dear GP that you lost but for the fact your life is not the same as it once was going to be.
Once things gradually start to sort themselves out you will feel like a weight has been lifted.
Fairy Training sounds good fun, just hope you are not a tooth fairy otherwise it could get expensive!!! :rotfl:
Will your money situation be better next month as you don't have to entertain the kids for 6 weeks or has the maintenance being cut really affected things?
Do you need any ideas with the money stuff?0
