Been desperate for a tumble dryer which I know is not very MSE but am taking into account the 2 following points
    1. I'm having to turn my heating on just to dry my washing which is definitely not MSE
    2. the smell of tumble dryer is my favourite smell in the whole world - makes me feel really peaceful

Anyway, browsing on freecycle last night an saw one offered - fingers crossed! Also saw granite pebbles (have been inspired by Zen garden at spa) and palettes (need to build a compost bin and a chicken run). Everything crossed for the universe providing :)

  • Kids at school and the house is a mess!!!! I have just under 5 and a half hours, to shop, make boring old phonecalls, plant some rhubarb and blitz the house. Best get some loud music and my pinny on!

Whilst I'm doing that perhaps you could ponder a dilemma for me? To Slimming World or not to Slimming World?

Case for: structure, weekly meetings, resources, ideas, support, knowledge that I HAVE to get on the scales once a week, haven't been able to stick to food plan and lose weight by myself, need to lose about 4 stone and need to drastically change eating habits to do that, I have lost weight on it before although i have also put back on more than I have lost, have tried hypnosis and 'eat whatever you want want' techniques and unfortunately I tend to eat c**p, would like to get control of my weight and body - digestion, skin and energy all a bit out of whack at the moment...

Case against: I have an individual eating plan from my PT friend which is very simple to follow, could save the £5 a week and put towards clothes, intrinsically don't believe in dieting, want to avoid cycle of losing weight and then piling weight back on, would like to have a normal, healthy balanced relationship with food...

Would really appreciate your musings before I make a decision.

ah Ruby that's the dilemma i'm constantly working against, to slimming club or not. I need to get a weekly deadline or i just coast and never actually achieve anything but by the same token i don't always lose weigh on the diet plans that they advocate.
could you get your friend to weigh you in each week? if you need that strictness?
  • Friends are too easy to blag and distract! Also, she is lovely and advocates a psychological approach to weight loss and obesity but she doesn't have the time to commit or dedicate to walking me through it. She's fab and whenever I talk to her about going to the gym or dieting she says to me to be kind to myself, wait until I'm ready, it will come off by itself. I absolutely see the sense in that. However, instinctively I know my weight is spiralling out of control, I'm using food and inactivity as a crutch and I need to take control of that.

Got quite a lot done today. Not everything I wanted but I started out with unrealistic expectations!
    Tada list:
    1. rearranged furniture in boys room
    2. put all laundry away
    3. 2 other loads of laundry washed and hung up
    4. planted rhubarb
    5. supermarket shop with kids without killing them!
    6. made yummy jambalaya with plenty leftover :)
    7. read to DS2, read with DS1

    So, not all bad ;)

  • Curled up on sofa with 3 little boys (not all of them mine!) with belly full of chilli and friendship cake, nursing a woolly old head caused by late night, early morning and too much wine. Had today off to to take DS1 to hospital appointment, They've put him on list for tonsillectomy in January. I'm trying to work out what I got done today... Last night I got so fed up of coming into a skanky house that I got a bucket of water with washing up liquid and a few drops of lemongrass and washed all the walls, skirting boards and scrubbed the carpet. It looks sparkly but it smells divine! Now I need to walk into the rest of the house and deal with that :p

The biggest thing I have to overcome is the amount of stuff in my house! Ahhh!!! When I moved in 3 years ago I downsized drastically and now it is brimming over again! I need some shelves putting up (I need a handy man for this which means I need some pennies) and to do some decluttering. There is no room for a Christmas tree!! In the clearing up process I brought my old dressing table downstairs to reluctantly paint up and sell but as soon as I got it downstairs I realised it will make a perfect sewing machine table :)

I sat down today to check the bank statement and try and get some kind of budget together to manage the expenses for the upcoming expenses (sister's birthday, car tax, Christmas, petrol for Essex). I'm currently short for the mortgage and that is before I have to deal with all that stuff :( Sooo.... need to call the mortgage company. Not in a happy place. I am expecting an invoice to be paid and I'm expecting a rebate from Student Loans. I sent text message to chase invoice and I will call Student Loans. Some days I get fed up by how hard this is :(

    I'm not wallowing though :)

i need to overcome stuff as well, sometimes i hate this place because of the 'stuff' maybe we should walk along the decluttering path together.
