Can someone please clarify....
Am going to USA and will be using text quite a lot. Was thinking of using Touch app but won't this incur data roaming costs?
Also what about costs for person receiving and replying in UK?
Thanks Jacqui0 -

Beware, that if you don't switch mobile data or data roaming off, many apps will keep using mobile data without asking you. Also what about costs for person receiving and replying in UK?0 -
T.F.S.B.I.G.W.S.,
For UK I use a service called SMSfree4all.com:
No need to sign up and log in. Just visit:
Free SMS UK (smsfree4all.com/free-sms-united-kingdom.php)
Free MMS UK (smsfree4all.com/free-mms-united-kingdom.php)
Above service works great for me.

I used up all my free online text allowance (10 per month) in November, now all I get when I log on is a message 'You have no more quota left. Please purchase some quota.'
I assumed it would reset to 10 every month.
Even tried the online help and they said they would reset it, but still no texts?
I used to have my broadband with O2 until September, when I moved house and changed supplier.
Since I still use an O2 mobile and have an active O2 webmail address, I expected this would still be available.
Any one else having problems with this? And any idea how to get them back?
Cheers
Colinstay lucky!

I have the same problem, I have asked them to reset my account data and texts on a couple of occasions but it's still not fixed, I think they just don't really care enough to fix it...Signature removed by popular demand.0 -
I agree that O2 don't seem to want to retain customers by ignoring requests to supply what's advertised (eg free web texts).
I was moved over many years ago to O2 webmail when it took over my old Genie account (remember them?).
I then used O2 broadband which was always reliable and fast, but moved to an area where standard broadband was slow & fibre was available.
I was surprised, when I asked O2 did they plan to offer fibre, to be told they have no plan to offer fibre anywhere!
Looks to me like they are, effectively, treading water - presumably to concentrate on its core mobile phone business.
Perhaps O2 broadband will go the way Genie did....ultimately.
Oh, well so long and thanks for all the fish.:)
Colstay lucky!

Has anyone used Fish Text ?
I'm heading to Australia for a few months and would like to use a cheap pc based system to send texts from Australia to friends and family who have UK mobiles.
Thank you.0 -

From 1 November 2013, you won't be able to send texts online. If you want to use your remaining allocation, you'll need to do it before then.
I was getting 400 SMS pm when I had o2 broadband which was very good. Since a house move that has ceased and I was on the 10 free SMS per month , now that's ending. I'll have to find another way to send an SMS from a PC. I have used cbf.com but it doesn't allow many words and often have to wait 8 minutes and send again, click off the second tab that pops up etc. Has anyone got any recommendations for a good PC to SMS service?0 -
PAYG. mainly just text suggest that you look at ee addons- £2 for 400 texts. Only £3 for 100 mins too.
If you can persuade most of the people you text to go on the same network then all of these offer free texts; delight giffgaff lebara lycamobile nowmobile O2 talkhomemobile vectone victorymobile whitemobile.
The advantage of delight is that you don't even need to have any credit on your phone. (Most specifiy a minimum amount of credit to get free calls or texts).0
